smdavey Posted September 19, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, I am obviously new here and wondered if i could ask a few questions. Firstly can anyone ( if you are allowed, forum rules etc) recommend someone to service my M3 in the UK ? serial number dates it to 1956 btw, if that matters so onwards. i have just come across a Zunow 50mm F1.1 which is fantastic. but i had never heard of this lens before. anyone out there know anything? will leave it at that for now. about me a bit. i use a Great Leica Cl and the M3 with the 40 summicron , the 90 elmar and now this 50 zunow. thanks in advance steve Ps. if this is in the wrong place. oops. pico Posted September 19, 2011 Share #6 Posted September 19, 2011 RE: Zunow 50mm There were at least two different designs of the lens. A deeper investigation with the serial number might be helpful. Me, I'd love to try the lens. Very best of luck with it!

TomB_tx Posted September 19, 2011 Share #10 Posted September 19, 2011 My Zunow 50 1.1 is a type 1, at serial 5525. The rear element really bulges out, requiring a deep cap. I inherited mine on a Canon IVSB, which have both been out for repair for a year. The Zunow seems in good shape, except a trim ring had split at a setscrew hole, and likely the setscrew went into the works, as the focus helical is jammed at infinity - so I haven't had a chance to really use it yet. It will be an expensive repair, but it certainly is an interesting lens.
