Michael Hiles Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1541 Posted August 12, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Very good and very quick. Indeed it is Chateau Margaux. A beautiful building in a beautiful area. We stopped in their outer courtyard on a bike tour of the area (no tastings while we were there). I was given a bottle of Margaux many years ago - it was pretty special, but normally Première Grand Cru wines are far beyond my capacity. Thanks for the compliment on the picture. The baton is passed. Edited August 12, 2016 by Michael Hiles
Advertisement Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Hi Michael Hiles, Take a look here "Do you know this building?" Game Thread. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spylaw4 Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1542 Posted August 12, 2016 It wasn't a spoof - I don't have anything ready to put up for guesses. Thanks for standing in Michael.
Musotographer Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1543 Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks Michael; many of the Médoc 'chateaux' are little more than large farmhouses - but Margaux is indisputably a chateau - maybe the grandest of all. I hope this isn't too obscure....... Christopher Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! adan Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1544 Posted August 12, 2016 Kinda rolling the dice here - but, a colonial fortress in or on the fringes of the Caribbean.
Musotographer Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1545 Posted August 12, 2016 Certainly a fortress, but not colonial, and not in the Americas.
Michael Geschlecht Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1546 Posted August 12, 2016 Hello Mustographer, Could this fortress be somewhere in or near Spain?Best Regards, Michael
Musotographer Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1547 Posted August 12, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Michael - It could well be in Spain, but it isn't - think some way to the east..... Christopher
Michael Geschlecht Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1548 Posted August 12, 2016 Hello Mustographer, Well, I guess that the people who might have built this in Spain might have built the same thing in Turkey. Could we be somewhere in or near Turkey?Best Regards, Michael
Musotographer Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1549 Posted August 12, 2016 They might have done - but you've gone too far east now.....
Michael Geschlecht Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1550 Posted August 12, 2016 Hello Mustographer, Well, Is it possible that we might be in the South of Mainland Italy, or more likely Sicily?Best Regards, Michael
Michael Hiles Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1551 Posted August 12, 2016 Looks to me like France, possibly Italy.
Musotographer Posted August 12, 2016 Share #1552 Posted August 12, 2016 Michael G - you're very much in the right area - bear in mind that Sicily was once plural.

Michael Geschlecht Posted August 15, 2016 Share #1555 Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) Hello Everybody, But now, the question is: Where in the Kingdom of the 2 Sicilys are we?Best Regards, Michael Edited August 15, 2016 by Michael Geschlecht
Musotographer Posted August 15, 2016 Share #1556 Posted August 15, 2016 Oh good - I thought everyone had lost any interest in this. Maybe it's not architecturally specific enough - I thought one or two people might just know it though. Just to move things along, a clue: a funicular can be helpful in getting to this building..... Michael Geschlecht Posted August 15, 2016 Share #1557 Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) Hello Christopher, Sometimes there is a pause in this & the other German language & English language "where are we" Threads*. Some people become busy & don't have the time to participate . Some people forget or don't understand that it is their turn. And sometimes people don't write for a variety of other reasons. But: Pauses are rarely from a lack of interest. If you notice a pause on this or any of the other "where are we" Threads in either English or in German that lasts for a longer time than you think it should take for someone to respond: You do everyone on this & the other "where are we" Threads a favor by writing a Post to let people know. Best Regards, Michael * There are actually a good number in both languages. Edited August 15, 2016 by Michael Geschlecht
spylaw4 Posted August 16, 2016 Share #1558 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies didn't just include Sicily, but quite a bit of the southern part of Italy as well, so a wide area to choose from! So are we in the northern or southern part or Sicily itself? Edited August 16, 2016 by spylaw4
Musotographer Posted August 16, 2016 Share #1559 Posted August 16, 2016 Michael - Thank you for that, and I shall do that if necessary in future. I was just rather aware that I may have posted an unsuitable picture for this thread, so I was breathing a visible sigh of relief as it were, that I hadn't put off quite everybody! Hello Spylaw - We are not in Sicily, though not far away, in the southern half of Italy...... Christopher
Michael Geschlecht Posted August 16, 2016 Share #1560 Posted August 16, 2016 Hello Christopher, There are no "unsuitable" pictures. There are just pictures that are more or less "challenging". Your personal choice is the correct choice. Best Regards, Michael
