Very good and very quick. Indeed it is Chateau Margaux. A beautiful building in a beautiful area. We stopped in their outer courtyard on a bike tour of the area (no tastings while we were there). I was given a bottle of Margaux many years ago - it was pretty special, but normally Première Grand Cru wines are far beyond my capacity.

Thanks for the compliment on the picture.

The baton is passed.

Thanks Michael; many of the Médoc 'chateaux' are little more than large farmhouses - but Margaux is indisputably a chateau - maybe the grandest of all.

I hope this isn't too obscure.......

Oh good - I thought everyone had lost any interest in this. Maybe it's not architecturally specific enough - I thought one or two people might just know it though.

Just to move things along, a clue: a funicular can be helpful in getting to this building.....

Hello Christopher,

Sometimes there is a pause in this & the other German language & English language "where are we" Threads*. Some people become busy & don't have the time to participate . Some people forget or don't understand that it is their turn. And sometimes people don't write for a variety of other reasons.  But: Pauses are rarely from a lack of interest.

If you notice a pause on this or any of the other "where are we" Threads in either English or in German that lasts for a longer time than you think it should take for someone to respond: You do everyone on this & the other "where are we" Threads a favor by writing a Post to let people know.

Best Regards,

Michael

* There are actually a good number in both languages.

The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies didn't just include Sicily, but quite a bit of the southern part of Italy as well, so a wide area to choose from!

So are we in the northern or southern part or Sicily itself?

Michael - Thank you for that, and I shall do that if necessary in future. I was just rather aware that I may have posted an unsuitable picture for this thread, so I was breathing a visible sigh of relief as it were, that I hadn't put off quite everybody!

Hello Spylaw - We are not in Sicily, though not far away, in the southern half of Italy......

Christopher
