Michael Geschlecht Posted June 8, 2015 Share #704 Posted June 8, 2015 Hello Michael, Could those cork trees in the background mean that this is a Mediterranean area? Best Regards, Michael
Michael Hiles Posted June 8, 2015 Share #705 Posted June 8, 2015 The Mediterranean is absolutely correct. The water is a 2km walk from this building.
Michael Geschlecht Posted June 11, 2015 Share #706 Posted June 11, 2015 Hello Michael, Could we be in either the French part of Catalonia or the Spanish part of Catalonia? Best Regards, Michael
Michael Hiles Posted June 12, 2015 Share #707 Posted June 12, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not Catalonia - either. Somewhat further east.
Michael Geschlecht Posted June 12, 2015 Share #708 Posted June 12, 2015 Hello Michael, Perhaps somewhere in Italy then?Best Regards, Michael
Michael Hiles Posted June 12, 2015 Share #709 Posted June 12, 2015 Hi Michael, Too far east - closer to Italy than Catalonia. Oh, and to further assist - not Monaco.
war Posted June 14, 2015 Share #710 Posted June 14, 2015 Hi Michael, While I recognize this building, I am reluctant to disclose its identity because Michael G is very close now using his unique methodology for determining building locations. I would never have thought that the trees (cork) were a clue! If it would not be inappropriate, I would like to keep this tread going by offering a clue: “ the building honors a Russian artist who spent most of his life in France”. Good Luck Michael G. regards, wally
Michael Hiles Posted June 14, 2015 Share #711 Posted June 14, 2015 Thanks Wally - I agree totally (and you are of course right in recognizing the building).
Michael Geschlecht Posted June 17, 2015 Share #712 Posted June 17, 2015 Hello Everybody, Well, since I used to work in a certain Town where Michael has on occasion visited (He even Posted a photo of a spot across a small bay showing a place a few meters from where I worked): I don't think I should be the person to answer this. Best Regards, Michael
Michael Hiles Posted June 17, 2015 Share #713 Posted June 17, 2015 I think we are all on the same page here - but I will give it 2-3 more days before the big reveal, so someone other than our two stalwarts can take a shot.
sls Posted June 17, 2015 Share #714 Posted June 17, 2015 Looks like the Marc Chagall Museum in Nice, the roof looks familiar. Must be round the back.

New to this game. Am I meant to quote replies? (Posted: Looks like the Marc Chagall Museum in Nice)
pop Posted June 17, 2015 Share #716 Posted June 17, 2015 You just write what you think is the answer to the riddle. The member who has posted the mystery picture will see it when he next looks here and answers whether you are right or wrong (concerning your guess, of course). Michael Hiles Posted June 17, 2015 Share #717 Posted June 17, 2015 Michael and Wally got it but recused themselves - so SLS wins the prize. It is indeed the Chagall Museum in Nice. Nice is a beautiful city, and has the added asset of the Matisse Museum, not very far from the Chagall. Nice is a nice city to fly into - it is a modest drive or train ride to all of the north of Italy and the whole of the Cote d'Azur and Provence. So I guess the baton passes to SLS (sounds like a fast Mercedes )
sls Posted June 17, 2015 Share #718 Posted June 17, 2015 Curiously the initials are not a Mercedes, but S in SLS is Segal, the Lithuanian artist concerned Moishe Segal (before moving to France and becoming Marc Chagall) came from the same neighbourhood as my great-grandfather Jacob Segal. Besides that, after a week on the beach I've a habit of looking for something more interesting to do. Philipp suggests this thread is a riddle. Riddles need clues. So here's a small building with a big clue. (M9 and 21mm/f2.8)
sls Posted June 18, 2015 Share #719 Posted June 18, 2015 Does this require a clue? There's a smoking big clue in the background.
sls Posted June 22, 2015 Share #720 Posted June 22, 2015 ... as in a volcano. That's giving it away.
