Yah - well, my Dad was a dean and professor at SIU/Carbondale from 1962 until retirement, so I grew up more or less in the shadow of SIU/C's Altgeld Hall, from the age of 8.

And I went to IIT's architecture school for a semester, before changing my major to Cinema & Photography at SIU's School of Communications.

And my first job out of college (medical photographer) was at the old Children's Memorial Hospital at Lincoln/Halsted/Fullerton.

And Standard Photo (at the time) was about two blocks west of the Water Tower, on Chicago Ave.

So my research mostly amounted to "just living my life in Illinois/Chicago for 23 years." 😁

"walking distance of Evanston"...... hmmmm!

Standard Photo, IIT, Children's Memorial, we've crossed paths many times. You're an honorary Chicagoan, so here's a hint:

"Examine carefully the design and construction of Chicago Water Tower and it's pumping station across the street"

Good hint (I think)!

The 1864 entry gate to Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago, at the intersection of Rosehill Drive and Ravenswood Ave. Designed by William Warren Boyington - who is also buried there, and designed the Chicago Ave. Pumping station in your hint, as well as many other buildings in Chicago and elsewhere.

how about that  - -  a rule should apply to post that you've seen it@ been there too. .

Rules?  I think that's pretty limiting. Is that why we don't see you posting here?

Relax, we just want to have fun, maybe see some interesting buildings, learn something about them, their architects, location, history.

Sorry, Google image search is probably not allowed. 😉😝

You got it right, I hope you'll post something of yours to stump us. The only rule I know about is to post a new one when you've solved it.

I understand perfectly well if my method is not approved here. It was mostly meant as a little prank. 🙃😁

Oh, I wasn't aware of that. I'm hardly anywhere. But you can try this:

Scandic (formerly Rica) Seilet Hotel, Molde, Norway. Opened 2002, Architect: Kjell Kosberg.

Major hint here is the Boreal ferry KARLSØYFJORD, crossing in the background, which sails a route between Molde and Vestnes.
