It just somehow looked North African too me (like a Gothic Cathedral with moorish influence). After looking around there it appears to be the Casablanca Cathedral.

We've not been to any of the countries one calls "West Africa" (Congo is as close as we've come), but based on your Senegalese island photo, perhaps this is in West African countries.

Not far from Senegal, but North Africa.

You're spot on.  Sparkling white with two minarets for towers, where else. Designed by a Frenchman in the 30's who couldn't resist applying Art Deco and Neo Gothic.  No longer a Catholic Cathedral now a community center of sorts.

You're up.

Apparently during its reconstruction at the end of the 19th century, Kaiser Wilhelm II demanded that the central keep be made much higher than the original. The previous castle of many iterations, was destroyed by Swedish Protestant troops in the 30 years war. As original, it was not impressive enough for little Willy, so you can imagine what the French guides call the tower. It is not desperately interesting to visit unless they have added a lot more stuff than when I went round it about 25 years ago.

Sorry for the delay - had to spend a few hours reviewing this thread to determine which pix I had already used. (Which was actually a lot of fun!)

Believe it or not, this structure has a specific name and is mapped.

Monochrom I, 135 Tele-Elmar
