spylaw4 Posted May 5, 2016 Share #1261 Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Michael, thanks for the guess but while I agree that there is something slightly British about the brickwork, India is not the answer - there was a slight clue in my previous post re Cambodia (which is not the country BTW - another clue). Actually I'll drop another hint here - the brickwork dates from a period similar to early Angkorian. Edited May 5, 2016 by spylaw4

spylaw4 Posted May 9, 2016 Share #1264 Posted May 9, 2016 Interesting Michael, but I am afraid not correct. Think SE Asia.

spylaw4 Posted May 11, 2016 Share #1268 Posted May 11, 2016 Not Cambodia, but I can see where you're coming from. These are similar in period to the earlier Cambodian remains. Think next 'door'!
stuny Posted May 11, 2016 Share #1269 Posted May 11, 2016 Viet Nam, or is that through the wrong door? I do not recall seeing anything like this in Viet Nam. But it does make me think of Ayutthaya in Thailand.
war Posted May 11, 2016 Share #1270 Posted May 11, 2016 Viet Nam, or is that through the wrong door? I do not recall seeing anything like this in Viet Nam. But it does make me think of Ayutthaya in Thailand. I think it's the right door. The Vietnamese built temples of brick rather than stone way back in old days. spylaw4 Posted May 12, 2016 Share #1271 Posted May 12, 2016 (edited) Well now we are at least in the right country! And war is correct so far. Can we now have a try at the location? I'll give a clue here - these are in the outskirts of a town (not Saigon or Hanoi). Stuart is also right in that a lot of Ayutthaya is also built in brick. spylaw4 Posted May 15, 2016 Share #1274 Posted May 15, 2016 Actually the site is in Nha Trang itself, or rather an outskirt of the city, So over to you. The site is named Po Nagar, and as you can see it is really in the city itself. Worth a visit if you happen to be there. Welcome, dear visitor! war Posted May 17, 2016 Share #1275 Posted May 17, 2016 Ok, we'll stick with brick for this one. This should be easy so let's get the name of the building, the location and the architect.
