Advertisement Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Hi Michael Geschlecht, Take a look here "Do you know this building?" Game Thread. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted January 12, 2016 Share #1062 Posted January 12, 2016 It is in the southern hemisphere, but not New Zealand. You probably see some British influence in the building.
@McLeica Posted January 12, 2016 Share #1063 Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) Hi Stuart I do believe that is Christ Church Cathedral in Stanley, East Falkland. The whale bone arch is stunning Best Matt Edited January 12, 2016 by Rapierwitman

@McLeica Posted January 13, 2016 Share #1065 Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) Hi Stuart, I've not had the pleasure of going to the Falklands but was watching a documentary the other day on Island life and a couple were married in that exact Church Here's the link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05p6gj6 So, to the next picture, I'm looking for the name of the arch structure (not the Church) and the architect. I'm sure for many of the learned travellers here this should be an easy one Lots of clues if required. Welcome, dear visitor! @McLeica Posted January 18, 2016 Share #1071 Posted January 18, 2016 I think we need a clue.......Is this perhaps in the North? Say, Lombardy of Emilia-Romagna? Sorry, I was thinking that myself. Central, think Renaissance, think Polymath.

Michael Hiles Posted January 18, 2016 Share #1073 Posted January 18, 2016 If the polymath is Fibonacci, then the link should be Pisa.
@McLeica Posted January 19, 2016 Share #1074 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) Firenze ? JP South East from Firenze, but not as far as Perugia. The Architect was from Tuscany. Edited January 19, 2016 by Rapierwitman
@McLeica Posted January 19, 2016 Share #1075 Posted January 19, 2016 If the polymath is Fibonacci, then the link should be Pisa. Later than Fibonacci and not Pisa. More the Arts than Mathematics. A Chronicler.
war Posted January 19, 2016 Share #1076 Posted January 19, 2016 Are we talking about Vasari? That church is in Castiglion Fiorentino. I'm confused. Did Vasari do the Logge del Vasari in Arezzo (the town) as well as one in Castiglion Florentino? I don't think the Logge del Vasari has a second floor and it appears your photo was taken from on high and there is a balustrade in front of you. I'm going to have to do some serious digging in my books!!

I'm going to have to do some serious digging in my books!! Yes, Vasari and it is Castiglion Fiorentino! Logge del Vasari, the original was built in 1513 by locals but it is credited to him due to a major restoration he undertook in 1560. Here it is in full and over to you. Welcome, dear visitor! war Posted January 19, 2016 Share #1078 Posted January 19, 2016 Hi. answered my own questions. Vasari did both loggias (the nicer one in my opinion in CF. Your vantage point is way above the church so it only appeared that you were on a second level. Wow, that one wasn't easy.
