Ok,we're now on the Sicilian Island of Ortygia and that ubiquitous Italian pastry must actually be called the Cannoli Siciliani. Should have just shown us a photo of one of those delicious treats and we'd have come up with this church immediately, rather than trying to decode that coat of arms or figure out why an Italian church has atypical iron balconies.

 

Anyone want to fill in the missing blank? I'm Hungary.

Caravaggio's Burial of Santa Lucia is what people come there for, but they stay for the Cannoli Siciliani.

I'm closing down now for someone to come up with the name of this building. Doesn't appear that anyone is following this thread right now. Where are the two Michaels?

Well done sir - and as war wrote, Caravaggio's extraordinary picture of poor St Lucy's burial is the altarpiece. The church closes off the southern end of Syracuse/Ortigia's Piazza del Duomo, a stunning public space even by Italian standards.
