Michael Hiles Posted March 1, 2015 Share #645 Posted March 1, 2015 Crikey - I'll be back shortly. (Seems to me I recently promised something both Canadian and obscure - maybe my guest bedroom?).
Michael Hiles Posted March 1, 2015 Share #646 Posted March 1, 2015 OK. Contrary to prior promises, this is not Canada and not really obscure. Landscape architecture - clearly. Give us the name of the place this garden is part of. Not a great picture - but... Welcome, dear visitor! Michael Hiles Posted March 3, 2015 Share #648 Posted March 3, 2015 Definitely Italy.
stuny Posted March 3, 2015 Share #649 Posted March 3, 2015 Northern, perhaps Bergamo or Florence? if the latter, Boboli?
Michael Hiles Posted March 3, 2015 Share #650 Posted March 3, 2015 No... further south. South of Rome. Some English and American links ( but many Italian gardens have English or American connections). (I think I am giving it away).

Michael Hiles Posted March 12, 2015 Share #652 Posted March 12, 2015 Winston Churchill came here, for the famous view. So did my wife and I.
Michael Geschlecht Posted March 14, 2015 Share #653 Posted March 14, 2015 Hello Michael, Might this garden be not too far from Mount Vesuvius? Best Regards, Michael
Michael Hiles Posted March 14, 2015 Share #654 Posted March 14, 2015 Hi Michael - not far from Vesuvius, but a little further south. Getting here involves one of the hairiest (and famous) seaside road drives - one I wouldn't do myself for anything.
Michael Geschlecht Posted March 17, 2015 Share #655 Posted March 17, 2015 Hello Michael, Winter weather must be keeping people away from their computers. When I was in undergraduate schol I had an office next to the office of Wilhemina Jashimsky who was an archaeologist excavating at Pompei. Her husband was her photographer. Could we be somewhere in that neighborhood? Best Regards, Michael
Michael Hiles Posted March 17, 2015 Share #656 Posted March 17, 2015 Hi Michael, Thanks for adding a bit of adrenaline to this thread. General area of Pompeii - but still more south of the Bay of Naples. Drive south from Sorrento and stay on the hair raising coast road (take the bus if you are the least bit nervous). Michael Hiles Posted March 27, 2015 Share #657 Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) Hmmmm. Maybe I'll take a guess. Could this be the Villa Cimbrone at Ravello on the Amalfi coast? Edited March 27, 2015 by Michael Hiles
Michael Hiles Posted March 27, 2015 Share #658 Posted March 27, 2015 ANOTHER WINNER! Right you are. The garden is connected to a Villa Cimbrone in Ravello. It is particularly famous for its view, called the Terrazzo dell'lnfinito, the Terrace of Infinity. It takes my breath away. So... another obscure picture? Michael Hiles Posted March 27, 2015 Share #659 Posted March 27, 2015 So... another obscure picture? If you insist... This should be simple (at least it was for me). Welcome, dear visitor!
