O.K., it's -7 C here at midday and a heavy snow warning is in effect for Tuesday, so I guess time to post this.

MP .58, 35/2 LHSA, f5.6 @ 1/250th, 160 NC. And no, there was no better position to get this without lemmings in the shot, and it's at the mouth of the harbor near the fort and casino. And yes, I like the drain just fine. :) Life is like that. At least it's not the shot from 500 m to the right which is in all the tourist brochures. :p Think I greatly prefer this one.. And my coulds are nicer. Something like 32 C at the time! Had just been looking at German watches which cost more than my whole Leica kit! :eek:A. Lange & Söhne - German watch, Wrist watch, mechanical movement, Glashutte, Chronograph, Tourbillon

William a very pleasant view. I like the effect of the palms' shadows. I initially thought that there was some distortion but, looking more carefully, I can see that the curb in front is in fact curved.

Nice pre-emptive strike on the caption. We can hardly find fault ;)

Svenning,

Yes, you can just see the bridge on the right. It opens to let boats and little ships pass. When it opens, two ferry boats run with Dutch efficiency so that no one is inconvenienced. I rode one and was very impressed. Our guide drove us into town by the new high bridge and around the lagoon which runs 90 degrees to the right of this inlet. It has been filled in now in many places, but our friendly guide explained that it had been used for Pan Am flying boat traffic before WW II.

Geoff and Andy,

If I noticed the shadows, it was unconscious. I was most concerned with catching these colorful Dutch colonial buildings with the palm trees, fort wall and that cloud bank without including the ratty cars just outside the frame on the right and left. :) Not unhappy with what I got however...

John,

Trust me, when the sun was out, it was HOT! This harbor is only 35 miles off the coast of Venezuela!

Bill,

With 30 cm. of frozon marbles and snow outside my door and -10 C, inviting ain't the word!

Conrad,

Thanks for checking in! This is the rainy season on a desert island. You have mail...

Mehmet Ali,

Agree with Dan. You aren't doing too bad! :)

Brent,

I know how crazy you are. If you saw one of these things up close, you'd be looking for a bank to rob. They are mechanical masterpieces and little wonders, for the super-rich. :(TimeZone: A. Lange & Söhne => New to collecting Lange...

Hi William,

I like this image..very much

At first glance you wonder how seeing the tops of the trees would make a better image but on second thoughts i think it's a stronger image as it is...

Deserves go up on a wall..

I have seen one of those watches as well.. my friend has one....yes a frightening amount of money

regards

Jim

Peter,

Well Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow, Groundhog .org - the Official Site of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club , so spring will allegedly come early, but it's still #@%&@ cold here! Maybe I need your groundhog too? :) Glad you enjoyed the colors. I'll post a building or two over there up close. The part of Willemstad behind my back is too commercial and cluttered to be worth a shot. Inspiration was a problem on this voyage...

James,

Thanks for dropping by. Didn't have my 28 with me, but you are probably right. Wider would throw off the scale and the 35 here renders a very natural view. If your friend can afford Lange's, would he adopt me?! :D
