veraikon Posted August 14, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Holger 1 posted this link to an article of the local Wetzlar journal Wetzlar/Solms: 11-J in the german part of the forum. The best is to use an online translator. I´ll only summarize the important facts: _ Leica will move in spring 2013 to the Wetzlar´"Leica Park" _ in autumn Leica will present their detailed plans about to the public. _ Leica increased the lens production from 63 lenses to 120 lenses /day. It is planned to increase it to 240 lenses /day.

arminw Posted August 15, 2011 Share #5 Posted August 15, 2011 I hope Leica is also looking into promoting and getting on top of the production with lenses for the S2 camera ... I would hate seeing this camera at a dead end already . How many years now has it been since it was announced ????? Being a S2 owner myself I am as many other are very confused .... spylaw4 Posted August 15, 2011 Share #8 Posted August 15, 2011 Two points - 1. What a tortuous translation Google provides! 2. I can only sympathise with Armin re S2 lenses. The sooner Leica get the CS lenses to market the better, and also a supposed but much needed wider angle lens than the current 35mm. Adapters are only a second best and temporary solution. arminw Posted August 15, 2011 Share #9 Posted August 15, 2011 Armin, Is it valuable for S2 owners to have adaptors available now for MF lenses from other manufacturers? --Gib The lens adapters are second best and Leica had to do something about the this situation. However, the lenses were not desighned for what the S2 is capable of capturing .Leica is trying to calm down the temper of those waiting for updates, but is it really working ?? bpalme Posted August 16, 2011 Share #11 Posted August 16, 2011 Maybe a good time to buy some stock ... it will take a few quarters for those quadruple numbers to kick in but nice to get in early. I think if this new APS-C EVIL comes to fruition with an M mount demand will go through the roof.
adan Posted August 16, 2011 Share #12 Posted August 16, 2011 Maybe a good time to buy some stock. Lots of luck - CEO Andreas Kaufmann owns 96% of the stock - and the other 4% wouldn't even sell their shares to him (and filed and won a lawsuit to protect their right not to sell). stuny Posted August 16, 2011 Share #16 Posted August 16, 2011 Yesterday I noticed the share price for ADRs (the equivalent of shares, sold on US markets) was US$22. The last time I looked, a few weeks ago the ADR share price was US$10. Welcome, dear visitor! roydonian Posted August 16, 2011 Share #17 Posted August 16, 2011 The news that the lens production is being increased will be good news for those of us who are waiting for new lenses, but the production rate for the M9 and S2 was not mentioned in the news story. As an earlier thread indicated, production has been hit by problems in the supply of electronic parts from Japan. My dealer has received no M9-P cameras since an initial few immediately after the launch in June, which suggests that the line is either halted or is producing only a trickle of cameras. Best regards, Doug
