Lord Fluff Posted August 14, 2011 Share #44 Â Posted August 14, 2011 The decision to take only one lens is the important bit. The lens itself much less. 35mm is popular and the Summicron is nice and compact. But a blind choice of anything from say 24mm to 90mm will get you great results that you cannot reproduce with any other focal length - a bit depending on your comfort zone. Â Yes, exactly. lct Posted August 14, 2011 Share #45 Â Posted August 14, 2011 I "see" in 50mm and prefer small lenses so Summicron-R 50/2 on FF (5D), Summicron-M 35/2 asph or pre-asph on M8.2 and Summicron-C 40/2 on R-D1. Rarely happens though as i carry at least two lenses generally.

uroman Posted August 15, 2011 Share #47 Â Posted August 15, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) i just ordered the 50 'lux, but all this talk of 'crons makes me wonder - is the cron sharper?

sm23221 Posted August 15, 2011 Share #49 Â Posted August 15, 2011 i just ordered the 50 'lux, but all this talk of 'crons makes me wonder - is the cron sharper? Â The resolution is slightly better with the 'cron but the bokeh is somewhat better with the 'lux (less harsh). I prefer the 'cron because most of my photos are of landscapes that require the best resolution rather than people shots that require better bokeh for separation. For people photos I would recommend the 'lux and for landscapes the 'cron.

Washington Posted August 15, 2011 Share #51  Posted August 15, 2011 My Konica dual-range 21+35. Best lens I’ve ever owned for this purpose.
Bo_Lorentzen Posted August 15, 2011 Share #52 Â Posted August 15, 2011 Ahhh. this is hard and easy... see the thing is I always want to have my 50mm, because it is a good FOV, love shooting it... BUT in reality, my 35lux rarely leave the camera, and the 50mm is in the pocket, kind of like a comfort blanket. Â Answer is 35lux, because 90+ % of my pictures is captured with this lens. (but I feel better with the 50 in the pocket). Â .
k-hawinkler Posted August 15, 2011 Share #53 Â Posted August 15, 2011 That's easy, as I won't follow rules that don't make sense to me - unless it's the law, of course. So, here goes: TE 135/4, Lux 50/4, WATE. Â K-H.

kokoshawnuff Posted August 15, 2011 Share #55 Â Posted August 15, 2011 Either the 35 cron or macro elmar 90, ultimately it would depend on the specific desert or seashore
gib_robinson Posted August 15, 2011 Share #56 Â Posted August 15, 2011 For landscapes & people, I'd be pretty happy with my 35mm Summicron. But I would miss the speed of my 50 'lux and the macro capabilities of my 75mm. I rarely travel with less than 3 lenses. Then I'd take a 28, 50, 75. pico Posted August 15, 2011 Share #58 Â Posted August 15, 2011 I began with the 50mm Summicron because previously I was using a Petri with a (nominal) normal lens, and it was three years of good Summicron experiences. Later to a pre-asph Summilux 35 which became my new normal. I have often spoken of how much I like that lens but I got a new-used one after I wrecked mine in a bike accident. It ain't the same. I'm seriously considering an upgrade. Â (A few weeks ago I shot a large bicycle rally with the 75mm Summilux and boy, was I out of practice. At 1.4 it's DOF is like a Noctilux.)
