thetoaster Posted July 4, 2011 Share #5 Posted July 4, 2011 He made the switch at least 7 months ago, judging by the Vimeo post date... and it's made the rounds here already ;-)

Allen in Montreal Posted July 5, 2011 Share #7 Posted July 5, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) This video has been posted a few places, I would guess I first saw it close to a year ago. What I like about the way he works is they way he handles his gear, no babying the gear, just get the picture.
menos I M6 Posted July 5, 2011 Share #8 Posted July 5, 2011 Actually, I am more interested in which meter he is using in the film ;-)
wattsy Posted July 5, 2011 Share #9 Posted July 5, 2011 Actually, I am more interested in which meter he is using in the film ;-) Sekonic 308 I think.
KM-25 Posted July 5, 2011 Share #10 Posted July 5, 2011 I shoot Tri-X in my M3 and M6 every day, it's part therapy, part long term book project and part self assignment. While I have not hit the wall as he put it in regards to digital, I do feel the need for a balanced diet of how I gather my images from day to day. Mr. Milnor is one of many who feel this way and have attained this balanced diet, it's healthy...
Jeff S Posted July 5, 2011 Share #11 Posted July 5, 2011 Sekonic 308 I think. Yes, the 308s (easy to freeze frame on it). I like mine a lot...small and easy to use, although some would prefer an aperture priority mode (it has a shutter priority function). Jeff
menos I M6 Posted July 5, 2011 Share #12 Posted July 5, 2011 Thanks Ian and Jeff - I would be one of the AE mode needy (maybe out of convenience, as this is, how I set my exposures most of the time).
Jeff S Posted July 6, 2011 Share #13 Posted July 6, 2011 After measurement in shutter priority mode, the aperture value corresponding to the shutter speed is displayed as one toggles to different shutter speeds. So, getting to an appropriate F stop is pretty quick IMO...second nature after a while. Jeff
Adji.AP Posted July 8, 2011 Share #14 Posted July 8, 2011 What I like about the way he works is they way he handles his gear, no babying the gear, just get the picture. couldn't agree more Best.
250swb Posted July 8, 2011 Share #15 Posted July 8, 2011 Yes, the 308s (easy to freeze frame on it). I like mine a lot...small and easy to use, .... My prefered meter despite having more complicated ones, light, simple, very accurate. I hadn't seen the video before and thought he was making a good case for finding themes and stories to report with a camera. It would be a shame if the only lessons learned on a Leica forum were about bags, bodies and meters. Steve
Adji.AP Posted July 8, 2011 Share #16 Posted July 8, 2011 It would be a shame if the only lessons learned on a Leica forum were about bags, bodies and meters. Steve That would be an option. Some of us chose to become a collector, while others choose to become a photographer, or both. Best.
!Nomad64 Posted July 8, 2011 Share #17 Posted July 8, 2011 Thanks a lot for the link. It seems that there's a mild tendency to switching back to film. For sure I did. After more than two years of M8 I treated myself with an M3 and couldn't be any happier. Like a sort of coming back home. Cheers, Bruno

robert blu Posted July 13, 2011 Share #20 Posted July 13, 2011 Interesting and well done video. Stories telling with photography, wow, this is not so easy. But there are so many stories around us. And when they work it is always great. robert
