jtannen Posted June 27, 2011 Share #81 Posted June 27, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, Regarding the fw update, I commend Leica for not abandoning the M8/M8.2. So many perfectly good pieces of hardware or software are left on the junk heap and replaced by the next big thing. Even if the improvements are minor, one can feel that the equipment remains current. Thanks.
Advertisement Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Hi jtannen, Take a look here New firmware for M8 is online. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wilfredo Posted June 27, 2011 Share #82 Posted June 27, 2011 Glad to see the M8 is not been relegated to the trash heap. I will be upgrading the firmware on mine later today. Even if it is a small advance, it is still an improvement on a camera I continue to love for what it produces. The M8 remains as viable as ever :-). Gerjan Posted June 27, 2011 Share #83 Posted June 27, 2011 I have installed the FW with my Apple easyas usually. My pictures are super and I am satisfied. Leica thanks for new FW Gerjan
SJP Posted June 27, 2011 Share #84 Posted June 27, 2011 Nog een Hagenees? Kank.h (<= sorry this is Dutch, same place it seems.)
lagrassa Posted June 28, 2011 Share #85 Posted June 28, 2011 Installed the update, as easy as before with the previous update. My User Profiles were not changed. I have not taken a detailed look at the noise performance at higher ISO, but on the surface, I do not notice anything dramatically better. As mentioned in earlier posts, the displayed pictures snap into place noticeably faster and without the two-step process as before. This is definitely better. Funny, in all these years, my M6 has not required a firmware update.

LuxBob Posted June 28, 2011 Share #88 Posted June 28, 2011 Did mine on my iMac, used an SDHC, re-formatted it, didn't check to see if the battery was fully charged but knew it wasn't bad. Followed instructions. Worked perfectly. Took no time at all. Very happy with camera anyway and even more happy now.
lagrassa Posted June 28, 2011 Share #89 Posted June 28, 2011 Perhaps not, but you do have to replace your 'sensor' on a regular basis. True, but with each and every shot, a brand-new sensor.

carlmuck Posted June 28, 2011 Share #93 Posted June 28, 2011 ANyone know why this isn't available from Leica Camera AG From either the "owner's area" or the Downloads link the latest version is 2.005. Just curious.
chris_livsey Posted June 28, 2011 Share #94 Posted June 28, 2011 May be connected to the fact that a universal e-mail announcement has not yet been made by Leica as per previous releases ?
pop Posted June 28, 2011 Share #95 Posted June 28, 2011 did you look here: Leica Camera AG - Fotografie - M8 & M8.
carlmuck Posted June 29, 2011 Share #96 Posted June 29, 2011 I found and installed the software from the UK leica site. Just the "main" site (Leica Camera AG) didn't have it as of 2 days ago. Just odd since Leica has been upping their web game over the last year or so.

john_newell Posted June 30, 2011 Share #99 Posted June 30, 2011 True, but with each and every shot, a brand-new sensor. But the PP has to be done in the dark, with running water...
BJDrew Posted July 3, 2011 Share #100 Posted July 3, 2011 I updated las night, but took the opportunity to shoot anindoor scene at all ISOs directly before and after the update. Processed the images with no additional sharpening or noise reduction and peeped me some pixels. I can safely say there is no detectable difference except that there may be slightly more noise in uniform areas of modest shadow detail after the update... Which would be more consistent with the warming sensor and likely not at all related to the update. I certainly do think the firmware placebo effect may play a part in percieved differences. If I can motivate today, I will post some crops.
