Someone asked me why I post a photo a day on my vintage lens blog...........

, well for me it was something constructive and creative to do as I was off work due to a stress related disorder ( PTSD) . I chose to concentrate on vintage + manual lenses, because it slowed me down and made me be more *zen* and to take time to observe and enjoy subjects before snapping the shots.

Starting off using the Pentax takumars and Soviet helios lenses got me really into the old school style of photography, and then trying out some excellent Zeiss planars by Contax convinced me there was still a place for high quality gear in the modern world of photography that wasnt autofocus and 12 frames a second.

I sold the 2 planars and a bunch of junk from my basement to fund a used Leica M8U and a 47 yr old con 50, and I must say that photography has really helped me on my road to recovery. So much so that my therapist and doctors are actively encouraging me to just relax and have fun enjoying life and documenting the little things with my cameras ( isn't that what its all about?)

Thanks for all the positive comments , critiques and advice this last year , it took a lot for me to explain all this, but its all part of the healing/recovery process

cheers

Robert

Robert, what a heart-warming story; members will appreciate your plucking up strength and courage to relate it. I have heard from several people how art and crafts and photography have made a considerable impact on recovery from ill-health or accidents. A picture project, such as you describe, will open many new doors for you. Along the way you will meet interesting people, all of whom will help your recovery. Keep it up and keep in touch!

Hello Robert,

Glad you are getting better. What you are doing is a good way to begin rebuilding yourself.

You might try to further help yourself by developing your immune system nutritionally every day while @ the same time doing reasonable excersise on a regular basis perhaps every other day or so. The two done together can be more effective than either alone.

I was sick for many year & had numerous doctors & every test under the sun. Even though people could & did measure a whole basket of symptoms no one could figure out what was the cause was. I decided to try what I suggested for you above & found my health improved significantly.

My theory was: When your body is weakened whether from stress or thru illness your immune system can be compromised. It is your immune system which marshalls forces in your body & directs them to repair & replenish you when you are not well whether for physical or other reasons.Your immune system can only do this if it is well & it has the necessary ability, nutrients & reserves to function appropriately.

Your immune system itself has to be maintained & repenished as it is damaged & used up repairing & restoring whenever & whatever is wrong. To do this you need to take in the proper nutrients & excersise. Once your immune system is replenished & is functioning properly then it is what fixes you.

Best Regards,

Michael

Robert,

Thank you for having the courage to disclose what you have and I'm very glad to hear that this form of photography has helped you. I hope that others with a similar ailment will perhaps read your post and benefit in the same way.

Pete.
