Jamie Roberts Posted May 2, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 2, 2011 For some time I had C1 quitting quitting quitting. Now I have C1 Pro 6.2 freezing freezing freezing. Each time I try to process a picture to export it as DNG, the bloody thing freezes with the wheel of death. No other solution than force quit. This is on a Mac, right? Just because they said they updated for 6.2, I'd turn off OpenCL (set it to never) under Preferences, and then restart. Unless you have the video card to support OpenCL that could mess you up. It's working fine on my Windows 7 64 box and my Macbook... Other than that, I don't usually output to DNGs (why would you do that?). Why not just stick with TIFFs? JHAG Posted May 2, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted May 2, 2011 Jamie, Don't change nothing. Crashes-crashes-crashes. Even when outputting TIFF.
digger1914 Posted May 2, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 2, 2011 Have you tried doing a complete uninstall and then reinstalling it? That often does the trick if something went wonky on the install.
JHAG Posted May 3, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted May 3, 2011 Still the same pain… My problem with complete uninstall as detailed here, I fear it will lose many of my settings, sessions, etc. http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/article.aspx?articleid=1164&languageid=
archi4 Posted May 3, 2011 Share #6 Posted May 3, 2011 One possibility which is less drastic than a complete uninstall and has never lost any settings etc. for me: 1. make sure you have no raw files in the captures/moveto/select and trash folders in the default session 2. close Capture One 3. Delete the Default session (Pictures/Capture One Library) 4. Delete the Capture One Preference files User/Library/Preferences/com.phaseone (all of them) relaunch Capture One May not help, but in my experience does no harm Maurice
jaapv Posted May 3, 2011 Share #7 Posted May 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) There is no sensible reason to export a picture as DNG. What happens if you export as TIFF? I tried exporting as DNG - total freeze - so I won't do that again. TIFF, however is flawless.

However, if the option is available it should work
archi4 Posted May 4, 2011 Share #9 Posted May 4, 2011 The OP stated he also had the freeze occur when exporting as tif, so his problem is not limited to the DNG export.
archi4 Posted May 4, 2011 Share #10 Posted May 4, 2011 I duplicated JHAG's problem and had the same freezing, also when exporting tiff's. It was corrected using the procedure I had outlined earlier, and the only thing I had to restore was my custom workspace (which was still available)
Jamie Roberts Posted May 4, 2011 Share #11 Posted May 4, 2011 Maurice, How did you duplicate the problem? Was there something you did that Johan could avoid? Your advice is good. It's just like Photoshop--if the control files / default session / preferences gets messed up, then the program will have problems.
archi4 Posted May 4, 2011 Share #12 Posted May 4, 2011 Jamie, I tried exporting a DNG (made a recipe for it) The file wasn't exported and C1 kept running showing it was busy but with no result. Forced quit C1 and reopened and tried to export a tiff with no result and again a frozen program (not crashed). I then cleared it as I had described and everything is back to normal again. As far as I know, exporting a DNG was the only easy way to copy a single raw file to another folder within Capture One in order to have the same file in two, or more locations. If anyone can tell me how to do that, I would appreciate it! In Adobe Bridge it's easy but in Lightroom I also have to do it by exporting. maurice
wlaidlaw Posted May 4, 2011 Share #13 Posted May 4, 2011 There is a major change from 5 to 6. For multiple photo processing on 5, you would hold down the shift key when clicking on the process cog. If you do this in 6, C1 crashes. Wilson
archi4 Posted May 5, 2011 Share #14 Posted May 5, 2011 Wilson, I don't have this problem. I hold down the shift and use the large cog in the right hand side of the tool bar. maurice

I got C1 V6 Pro just after it had been released and it kept crashing with me. I contacted P1 and was asked if I was holding the shift key down when selecting to do multiple processing. When I answered yes, I was told that was the cause and a gentle hint to RTFM (read the "fine" manual). Anyway you certainly don't need to hold it down as you used to. I use cmd-A to select all, select a recipe in single process, go to the multiple process tab and click on the process cog. Wilson

usm Posted May 6, 2011 Share #17 Posted May 6, 2011 Hi! I have a similar problem with C1 6.2, it's crashing randomly after 20 minutes' work or just leaving the program open. I tried the procedure from archi4 but no success. I changed back to version 6.1.1 and everything is working well. My system is OS X 10.6.6, 2x2.26 Quad-Core 12GB Ram. wlaidlaw Posted May 6, 2011 Share #18 Posted May 6, 2011 Hi!I have a similar problem with C1 6.2, it's crashing randomly after 20 minutes' work or just leaving the program open. I tried the procedure from archi4 but no success. I changed back to version 6.1.1 and everything is working well. My system is OS X 10.6.6, 2x2.26 Quad-Core 12GB Ram. Greetings, Mario Mario, First, update to 10.6.7. Second do a total clean removal of C1. Not just the app but every single file that has anything to do with C1. In other words: .col files (but only for C1), .plist files for both capture one and phase one, cache files, log files, application support folders and files, receipts, scripts, picture libraries (copy across any image files you need to keep, beforehand). Make sure you do this for every user and in your root library folder. Search with Spotlight for any files you may have missed both under capture one, captureone, phase one and phaseone then delete them. Do a reinstall from a fresh download (you will need to enter your unlock code again). If C1 starts without having to enter your unlock code, you have missed files in your clean out - start again! If still having issues, log a support case. In my experience of using C1 for 6+ years, since Digilux 2 days, their support team is first class and very responsive but remember it is a small company and they don't provide 24 hour support or work week-ends.
