LuxBob Posted August 2, 2011 Share #241 Posted August 2, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Norwood? Are the two tall structures the Croydon and Crystal Palace transmitters? Well done Wattsy, the two towers which I know as the Crystal Palace Towers, were the two clues. Next I was going to refer to car racing at Crystal Palace and the football club. Over to you. wattsy Posted August 2, 2011 Share #242 Posted August 2, 2011 Thanks. This one is probably a bit easy but I've run out of aerial shots. Okay, from what building was this shot taken? etibeti Posted August 3, 2011 Share #250 Posted August 3, 2011 Should be Stratosphere Tower, Las Vegas.
wattsy Posted August 3, 2011 Share #251 Posted August 3, 2011 Should be Stratosphere Tower, Las Vegas. Yes, it is the Stratosphere Tower. Your turn. Incidentally, the tower is well worth a visit if you are in Las Vegas - not just for the great view but also to dangle a thousand feet above the ground in a chair courtesy of the ride (the worst part of that 'experience' is not when it spins around but when it stops and you are left hanging in the air for a minute or two). LuxBob Posted August 5, 2011 Share #254 Posted August 5, 2011 (edited) So, just to stir it around somewhat my first thought was Germany and one of the Maar in the Eifel (coincidence) because of the deep blue which you might get from above over a deep lake .. but those red towers don't seem to be very German. Are they water towers or fire watch towers? Also the photo appears to be taken from a mountain or high hill which is causing shadow in the picture. the town or collection of houses gives a clue but it is not anwhere that i know. So a bit more research I think. No boats on the lake as far as I can tell which might mean it is not USA but could it be Canada? O.K., the red towers are towers from a cable car and your first thought wasn´t too bad. Here´s another one: Welcome, dear visitor! LuxBob Posted August 6, 2011 Share #256 Posted August 6, 2011 I think you gave it away. Is it the Elbsee and do the cable cars take you to the Zugspitze?
etibeti Posted August 6, 2011 Share #257 Posted August 6, 2011 I think you gave it away. Is it the Elbsee and do the cable cars take you to the Zugspitze? Yes, you´re right - in two respects. Was it to difficult or why did i get so little response?
LuxBob Posted August 6, 2011 Share #258 Posted August 6, 2011 Yes, you´re right - in two respects. Was it to difficult or why did i get so little response? For me it immediately looked like Germany but the red towers really threw me. When you mentioned that they were cable car towers and you showed the mountains in the background it could only be a small part of Germany. Even though I know some of the Bavarian lakes i didn't know this particular one but it was only a small number of possibilities. Thus, I did not do this from any knowledge that I had of the place, more a general knowledge of Germany. Having seen the detailed knowledge of the most obscure parts of the world that people seem to know it is surprising that no one got here earlier. However I now have to find one. It will take until Sunday.

ldossche Posted August 7, 2011 Share #260 Posted August 7, 2011 I Think you are flying over the river Thames, approaching London city airport from the west. We see a side arm of the Thames If that is correct, somewhere near the horizon must be the London 2012 Olympic Games site. Lieven
