Advertisement Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Hi dcoombs, Take a look here The world from above - Game Thread. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spylaw4 Posted July 10, 2011 Share #182 Posted July 10, 2011 Easter Island? Phew - at last - you got it! Well done! Over to you.
dcoombs Posted July 11, 2011 Share #183 Posted July 11, 2011 This is really embarrassing, but I can't find another shot from the air. I can't get access to my main pc right now, and this one has too few photos on it. Apologies. Brian, could you post another to keep the thread going? I promise not to guess again until I know I have something to post. Thanks, Doug
spylaw4 Posted July 11, 2011 Share #184 Posted July 11, 2011 Ouch - I think I've run out also. I don't usually sit in a window seat. Perhaps someone can start this up again - don't all post at once!
stuny Posted July 11, 2011 Share #185 Posted July 11, 2011 Okay, here's another. Where are we? Extra points for identifying the air craft. Welcome, dear visitor! Michael Geschlecht Posted July 12, 2011 Share #186 Posted July 12, 2011 Hello Stuart, I'd say given our closeness our aircraft is a wing over. Best Regards, Michael
Michael Geschlecht Posted July 12, 2011 Share #187 Posted July 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Again Stuart, I noticed the piece of the aircraft in the upper right corner after I posted my Post above. Sorry about that. So, instead I will say given the shadows & the colors of the sky we are on a high mountain in summer. Perhaps in the Himalyas or the Andes. Best Regards, Michael
Washington Posted July 12, 2011 Share #188 Posted July 12, 2011 Sandusky, Ohio ….. no doubt about it!
stuny Posted July 12, 2011 Share #189 Posted July 12, 2011 Michael - Right time of year, wrong continent. Rip - Very funny, but it's not even Sudbury, Ontario.
stuny Posted July 13, 2011 Share #190 Posted July 13, 2011 Still no more guesses? Perhaps identifying the aircraft will help: An amphibious Cessna 185. In the photo below I crudely cloned out the tail number, company name and company logo. Welcome, dear visitor! dcoombs Posted July 13, 2011 Share #194 Posted July 13, 2011 Ack! I didn't think I was close enough to be given a win. I don't have an aerial shot to post now. Could you do another one, Stuart? Thanks, Doug
stuny Posted July 13, 2011 Share #195 Posted July 13, 2011 Doug - Okay. Here's another. If it becomes too difficult I'll include another helicopter shot of something else nearby. Win with the name of the town. Extra credit for the name of the fort. Welcome, dear visitor! Olsen Posted July 15, 2011 Share #196 Posted July 15, 2011 Is it in the Caribbean? This is a typical 16th century fortress. From the slave trade?
stuny Posted July 15, 2011 Share #197 Posted July 15, 2011 Olsen - Not tropical. Bastions were common in fort design at least since the 18th century so that enemy soldiers could not hug the wall while advancing to the gate without being detected. okram Posted July 17, 2011 Share #199 Posted July 17, 2011 I sent a mail to Okram quite a while ago, but he seems to have disappeared. Can you supply a shot, Marco? I am sorry, I never came back to this thread till today. Never got your mail too. I apologize for ruining the game, I obviously did not read the rules careful enough.
