esquire53 Posted September 9, 2013 Share #2564 Â Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) seaweed is not part of "standard" sushi. The stuff from this plant is between the rice and the fish or just on the side, if with sashimi ... here is what mighty wiki has to say: "The unique flavor of xxxxx is a result of complex chemical mixtures from the broken cells of the rhizome, including those resulting from the hydrolysis of thioglucosides into glucose and methylthioalkyl" if it helps ... Michael Geschlecht Posted September 9, 2013 Share #2565 Â Posted September 9, 2013 Hello Uwe, Â A common rhizome on a plate of sushi or sashimi would be ginger. But it is usually pickled & sliced. Â The only thing that I can think of that might accompany sush & sashimi in the manner that you describe that might be "crushed" would be wasabi. If wasabi is a rhizome: Might this be Estonian wasabi? Â Best Regards, Â Michael
esquire53 Posted September 9, 2013 Share #2566 Â Posted September 9, 2013 there is no ginger between the rice and the fish in sushi, but there is wasabi it is wasabi and one of the earlier hints, it had the country in it ...
