gab3x Posted April 17, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 17, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear l-camera-forum-ites, I have finally bitten the bullet and got myself an M8. Alas, not with a Summilux as of yet (waiting for it still) but a nice Zeiss 35mm f2. Anyhow, I have paid €1100 for the chrome body which (according to EXIF) has 1790 actuations and a serial number 3330XXX. I thought this was a steal - is this the case or have the prices recently crashed?
Advertisement Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Hi gab3x, Take a look here Good Deal or a Price Crash. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted April 17, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 17, 2011 Assuming the sale is legitimate, it's a good price.
lct Posted April 17, 2011 Share #3 Posted April 17, 2011 Never seen such a low price for so few actuations so far.
gab3x Posted April 17, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted April 17, 2011 The guy I bought it from really seems like an honest chap so I have no worries over whether the camera is legit. It seems to work fine... images look good and the SN seems to be a later production model. OK, so judging by the first two reactions, definitely a steal :-)
farnz Posted April 17, 2011 Share #5 Posted April 17, 2011 I'd recommend checking to make sure your rangefinder is accurate because if the camera has taken a knock it could have misaligned the rangefinder and you'd mis-focus close at wide apertures so you'd need to send the M8 in to have its rangefinder adjusted. gab3x Posted April 17, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted April 17, 2011 Hi, I checked everything - all is good. The pictures are sharp at close distance + f2, infinity at f8....etc. All I now need is to find a perfect Summilux for same amount of money and I will be VERY happy but I understand that is out of the question so.... efix Posted April 18, 2011 Share #7 Posted April 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I remember a few months ago that a forum member reported of a used black M8 he had bought from a dealer in Konstanz, Germany, for even less than 1000 €. It seems if you're lucky you can find deals like that from time to time ... But regular going prices are still much higher, around € 1600 I'd say. dpitt Posted April 20, 2011 Share #9 Posted April 20, 2011 I payed 1550 Euro for my M8 half a year ago and thought it was a steal. That was without the IR cut filters but it still had 5 months of warrenty left. 1100 is a steal. Enjoy it!
