leic Posted February 12, 2011 Share #1  Posted February 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi X1 owner's  I bought today my X1  For me the most important aspect was the image quality.  Here you can see an simple test picture that I shot outside the shop. It is original size, so to see the details zoom in:  http://www.realwebprojects.de/L1000060.jpg  Quite good resolution?  Can you please post some samples from your X1, so that we can compare our lenses?  (100% or 100% crops, please with standard cam sharpening or without sharpening)  Thanks! h00ligan Posted February 12, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted February 12, 2011 Flickr: Camera Finder: Leica: Camera AG X1 Â Bear in mind some people sharpen outside of the camera..that's going to make a difference. Having sent back an x1 for lack of sharpness and finding it needed repair.. I can tell you that yours looks good, but shoot raw, and shoot at infinity if you really want to test. The camera adds a fair amount of sharpening to jpgs, and it can mask issues. Â I had a shot that looked sharp.. but it turned out that overall there was an issue.. wouldn't have known it without seeing raw files.
leic Posted February 12, 2011 Author Share #3  Posted February 12, 2011 Thanks Edward  Yes there are many pictures, but most of then aren't 100% and nobody can tell, as you mention how many post processing was done.

h00ligan Posted February 13, 2011 Share #8 Â Posted February 13, 2011 what exactly are you looking for? Â out of the camera jpg is sharpened a lot, it won't tell you anything.. are you looking for a photo in dng then converted with no sharpening? If so you will have to compare it to the same thing from your camera. Â If you are specific about what the problem is with flickr links or links in the x1 picture thread.. then maybe people can help.. Â I can tell you that from what i've seen, yours looks fine.. however there's no way to tell imo when you shoot jpg.
jsrockit Posted February 14, 2011 Share #9 Â Posted February 14, 2011 I'm sorry, but I don't see the point of doing this? Why bother testing... why not just go photograph?

DwF Posted February 15, 2011 Share #14 Â Posted February 15, 2011 Truth to tell, I always enjoy getting a nice first image when I get a new camera; one that I will associate with that camera or lens (in the case of say the M bodies). That first image may sometimes takes a few exposures to capture! But one thing is for sure, it gets me using my new camera. Â David

jpjansen Posted February 19, 2011 Share #20  Posted February 19, 2011 I'm sorry, but I don't see the point of doing this? Why bother testing... why not just go photograph?  Well... I _do_ save some stuff like "canon day 0", "leica day 0", "canon 1.2 50mm day 0" etc as I have a few objects in my yard which are more or less immovable and whose aspect is not dramatically influenced by seasonal changes such as foliage.  On the whole, however, I tend to agree with you. Take a walk AND BRING YOUR X1, there's always something interesting to see and perhaps something less to shoot.  I own a Lowepro Fastback to carry all my 5DII gear, took it on a trip to the US last month and it turned out to be barely big enough. Took some great shots, though.  Last March I bought (and last June I received) an X1 to have fun, and, as people say about Leatherman, I don't leave home without it.  As an example, I walked from my home to the BMW dealership yesterday, about 4 clicks. Came home with 13 pictures. Would have shot more in less atrocious light. Would have shot NONE if I'd taken up the BMW dealership's offer of a replacement bike for the day.  L1011329 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!  Apologies for redirection to Flickr; this forum's limits on the size of attachments are boring.  cheers  Jos
