I often watch other creatures outside in inclement weather and wonder if they are as uncomfortable as I would be if I had to live out there with them. Snow can be so beautiful, and one of the things that makes it very special is the special silence that seems unique to snowfall. It is like you are alone in a special world of quiet and beauty. I really enjoyed looking at the whole lot of your fresh snow photographs. The detail in the green tree needles is incredible and the softness of the snowflakes. I really love taking snow photos as well. But my R3 doesn't behave to well under 20 degrees. I had a hard time with it yesterday on a trip to vermont. My last photo of the day was a beautiful horse in the meadow and setting sun behind him. The rim lighting was wonderful, but dear old R3 didn't want to click for me. Is is Niko? Darlene--I used to know a newspaper photographer who had the same problem with one of his Nikons. Whenever it happened, he would throw it on the ground and then it would work again. Mine didn't like cold wetter if I was out it would just slow down to the point of making the self timer look like a race car After I got her back from Kinderman she works like a dream, - 20 C for a few hours doesn't slow her down at all. My life has settled down finally and I now have a new partner in life. He is a beginner photograper and he joins me on my adventures. He doesn't use a Leica, but we all can't be perfect. Thanks Peter for the encouraging words on my diehard R 3 . It probably would be wise to get a checkup since I put it to lots of use. I just hate to be without it for to long. Hi William, It was a Canon shot - those things are quite happen in pouring rain and snow, so I have to take them under these conditions. We lost him on Jan 12, and his daughter on Nov 5, then last Friday our 14 yo went too. Hi Darlene I second Peter's advice about Kindermann - I've never had to send anything back for a re-do of some sort with them; they are the only repair people I've ever used where that is the case. Hey Bill H, Glad to see that you are still alive and kicking! I was really hoping that "our" you know what.. favorite animal pic. has long been lost. We wouldn't want to even try to explain to all the new folks around here what that was all about. We had a lot of fun and laughs with it for a long time. Maybe you can catch another type of animal by surprise... Brent, I checked out your gallery website and found my very favorite photograph of yours (The Astronomer).
