Advertisement Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Hi wda, Take a look here Digilux 2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
exit Posted May 30, 2011 Share #22 Posted May 30, 2011 I too fell for the Digilux 2 strangle hold on my photographic psyche and lucked into one from all places BH Photo a few weeks ago. REALLY neat camera that brings a smile to my face every time I look at the images it can produce. I am no John Thawley or Thorsten Overgaard but I am beginning to believe that Leica/Panasonic are lying to us and there is a 10 MP sensor in there......Congratulations on your purchase! LKeithR Posted June 2, 2011 Share #24 Posted June 2, 2011 Another D2 user here. I actually acquired a Panny LC-1 first and just a few days later found a Digilux 2. I couldn't say no to the D2 and I can't bring myself to part with the Panasonic so now I have both. Although I tend to use the Leica more they are equally fine cameras to use. Love 'em both! d_lague Posted June 3, 2011 Share #25 Posted June 3, 2011 I bought my LC1 new when they first came out. I was not sure what I had at the beginning but I quickly realized what it is. Still my favorite even though I have a Canon g10 and a 7d........the LC1 is still my go to camera. I can always tell the difference. I will have to look at the shutter clicks reading again soon.....has to be astronomical!!

Tietje Posted June 3, 2011 Share #27 Posted June 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thorsten Overgaard describes the procedure here,leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Sites - Leica Digilux 2 sample photos and tests (as well as Panasonic DMC-LC1) - PAGE 4 - How to buy a Leica Digilux 2 second hand its at the bottom of the page
exit Posted June 3, 2011 Share #28 Posted June 3, 2011 Thanks caver3d. Truly dumb luck to find it. I have since learned from Leica that the sensor was replaced 3/11 making the find all the more special.
Pinocchio Wood Posted June 3, 2011 Share #29 Posted June 3, 2011 I bought my Digilux2 in 2006. The sensor failed within the 3-year warranty period. In Australia, the camera would be sent away and It would come back fixed by the distributor, not sent to Germany as far as I know. All normal, but my sensor failed a second time and the camera was replaced with another one. So my box and camera have different s/n but I think I still have the documentation to explain this. But my question is why would the original camera's sensor have failed twice? I never thought to press on why my camera was replaced, because the replacement looked new. Is a second failure common? stuny Posted June 4, 2011 Share #30 Posted June 4, 2011 First I've heard of it. Maybe reliable repairs of this sort are not done locally. Maybe they put in a similar Sony sensor -- Those are just guesses..
Pinocchio Wood Posted June 4, 2011 Share #31 Posted June 4, 2011 Would anyone know the mtbf for the three parameters reported in the test procedure. The parameters are power on, shutter actuations and flashes. Presumably all three wear out. What would be the counts for light, medium and heavy use? Any ideas? Thanks
Anassa Posted June 6, 2011 Share #32 Posted June 6, 2011 Thanks caver3d. Truly dumb luck to find it. I have since learned from Leica that the sensor was replaced 3/11 making the find all the more special. hi there!! i recently purchased a leica digilux 2 and would like to find out who you contacted to find out if the sensor was fixed. thanks so much
Overgaard Posted June 6, 2011 Share #33 Posted June 6, 2011 Anassa, if you send an e-mail to Leica Customer Service with the serial number they can tell if the sensor has been changed. It's Leica Camera AGs Customer Service and they have records of sensor replacement if it hapened.
Overgaard Posted June 6, 2011 Share #34 Posted June 6, 2011 Just shot with the Digilux 2 today in Solms after a long period of not using it. All my other cameras are at the factory today. But compared to M9 the slowliness of the Digilux 2 is actually like digging out the Leica M6 film camera. Things slow down so you have to plan your shots and wait for the camera. In many ways the same qualities as film. Another reason to get and use the Digilux 2 even newer cameras exist. A holy moment.
Paolo.Battista Posted June 7, 2011 Share #35 Posted June 7, 2011 I still use my Digilux 2 in many circumstances, I like to take photos with it in order to complement those shot with more modern cameras. I think that D2 shots can have a particular look that can be very pleasant with the right subject. Even the JPG engine of the camera is quite good, with the right settings you can avoid RAW conversion at least when WB is not an issue. Definitely, a D2.2 with the same body/lens combination but newer sensor and electronics would be real welcomed. Just a little basic shot with the D2 Welcome, dear visitor! Paolo.Battista Posted June 7, 2011 Share #37 Posted June 7, 2011 Well, the shot was only aimed at showing the capacity of the Digilux 2 of reproducing very subtle tonality variation, that on red and green colours is not so easy to obtain. I think that the Summilux zoom of this machine is really interesting (if not outstanding) for its quality. Too bad not having it on a more modern sensor.
