I stumbled on an old Leica, serial num is around 10 000, I was so stupid not to write it down.... It has a gravure "Munchen Olympics 1936"....  Is this possible to be an original? How to recognize original from fake? I can get pictures of that machine, just tell me what to take photo off to see if its original....  Thank you in advance! Advertisement Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Hi leonardo2212, Take a look here Old Leica - original or fake?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
greyelm Posted September 14, 2010 Share #2  Posted September 14, 2010 There is a strong chance that this is Zorki/Fed 1 (USSR) camera, the thing to look for is the rangefinder cam which can be seen when the lens is removed. On Leicas the cam is round, also the viewfinder front bezel on the USSR cameras 'blends' with the top plate whereas on Leicas the bezel is discreet. Fakes don't have a slow speed dial on the front. The early USSR cameras are similar to Lecia II.  Check this link Russian Fake Leicas  and this http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-213.html
UliWer Posted September 14, 2010 Share #3  Posted September 14, 2010 Hello! I stumbled on an old Leica, serial num is around 10 000, I was so stupid not to write it down.... Serial numbers about 10000 belong to original Leica cameras from 1932. From the information you gave I see no chance, that you have an original camera.  Try a film with it, it might work nevertheless.
