piblondin Posted September 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been wondering if my 40mm Summicron-C lens is somehow out of alignment because it's noticeably less sharp at f/2.0 on my M8 than it is at f/2.8. However, yesterday I tested a friend's 40mm Rokkor-M and also noticed a similar drop in sharpness at f/2.0. I don't notice this on my 50mm Summicron. For those of you who shoot digital with one of these 40mm lenses, do you a difference in sharpness at f/2.0? Thanks!

lct Posted September 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 8, 2010 I've been using both Leica and Minolta 40/2 lenses as well as 35/2 and 50/2 Leica lenses from the same period and i don't see significant difference in sharpness at f/2.
40mm f/2 Posted September 8, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 8, 2010 The corners are less corrected than the new 35mm lenses and the center image improves too at lower apertures. But I think it is quite o.k.- it's my backpacking lens. And I like the 40mm angle better than 35mm or 50mm and is a good combo with 28mm (like the CL).
