Rolls eyes has always struck me as a slightly sarcastic "smilie"....

I've always used it to mean "I'm not being completely serious." but I've wondered if others interpreted its meaning differently.

The other one I don't fully understand is :p because many people take that to mean I'm rudely poking my tongue out at them when I actually mean something's amusing but not as belly-slappingly amusing as :D.

Pete.

I rather enjoy seeing other Leica users loving their cameras. It's harmless and builds community. Is it that you don't love your Leica, or that you hate to see your fellow man enjoying himself, or that you take your photography so seriously that you cannot appreciate such sentiments? Naturally, you need not answer these impertinent questions, but it might be worthwhile to consider the motivation that made you complain.

I thought that all men loved fondling their tools. :D

My neighbor is a car enthusiast. Every Sunday you could find him under the bonnet (hood), working on the engine. His wife told mine, "Ya think it would work if I named my genitals "carburetor" so he would fiddle with me all Sunday?"

Oh, and my wife named my 1958 VW sedan, "Flattery" - because it gets me nowhere.

I understand the I LOVE MY... thing now. Thank you all. It is clearly a friendly convention of the forum. That's always a good thing. I always claimed I was not a collector, but since I never get rid of a camera, I guess I am one!

... some newbies fondling their new toy ...

I am not exactly a newbie and some of my 'toys' are old.

Probably thats why I love them?!
