k-hawinkler Posted March 8, 2011 Share #241 Posted March 8, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Andy, That's not how I understand that sentence. Let me explain, hopefully better, what I meant: I am interested in comparing the book with a full scale electronic version of the images. However, I don't have access to those images and most likely will not be able to buy that access. So my interest will remain a dream. Oh well. Is this clearer? Thanks, K-H. luigi bertolotti Posted March 8, 2011 Share #243 Posted March 8, 2011 Anyway... Bill has proved to be more "time to market oriented" than Erwin Puts...
k-hawinkler Posted March 8, 2011 Share #244 Posted March 8, 2011 Yup, May be Erwin should solicit Bill's expert help.

K-H, if you like, I'lll send you a copy of my b/w image on page 21 so you can compare to the one in the book. The image is a little clearer, but this particular image asks a great deal from a book page. On the other hand, the dance pix show off well. There seems to me to be a different kind of luminance between color and b/w pix. When the b/w's are printed in silver, they are really special. In a book, they lack a bit, I always feel. Hi Bill, Many thanks for your kind offer. I would like to take you up on it. The image on page 21 should be quite interesting to compare. I'll send you an email to the address you listed. I am on gmail. Gmail has a generous 25 MByte size limit per email. With best regards, K-H.
wparsonsgisnet Posted March 11, 2011 Author Share #247 Posted March 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) So far, we have had over 300 visits (what a lucky book ) and have sold 11 copies. This last does not reflect the status of orders. Blurb seems to mark sales after shipping. I have ordered a copy without the premium paper and will comment on how it looks soon. Regards to all,

stuny Posted March 11, 2011 Share #249 Posted March 11, 2011 Bill - I don't see how to specify the premium paper for my order.
farnz Posted March 11, 2011 Share #250 Posted March 11, 2011 Bill - I don't see how to specify the premium paper for my order. Stuart, It's premium paper by default and you're not offered the option to choose a different paper. Pete.
wparsonsgisnet Posted March 11, 2011 Author Share #251 Posted March 11, 2011 Note to all: the book is only available with premium paper -- Blurb doesn't give a choice. If you see a price of 45.94 for the paperback version, you know it's made with premium paer.

farnz Posted March 14, 2011 Share #253 Posted March 14, 2011 Mine arrived through the post today. Just superb. Thank you for your blood, sweat and time, Bill, you've done an excellent job. Thanks to Carl for hosting the pdf copy (which in no way comes close to the book imho) also to all of the other contributers for helping to make this a special book. (The copy I have is the premium paper - and it's well worthwhile - but I managed to order a copy before Bill changed to premium paper so I'm interested to see the difference.) Pete. jlancasterd Posted March 16, 2011 Share #255 Posted March 16, 2011 My copy (hardbound, wrap-around cover photos) arrived via Amsterdam today. The quality is all that I hoped for. I'm very pleased and will be showing it around... I also bought a new, hardbound, copy of the original 'Many Eyes' at the same time - the 'perfect bound' paperback copy I already had is shedding pages... cbretteville Posted March 17, 2011 Share #259 Posted March 17, 2011 As of this afternoon I've taken the preview page and the lowres pdf off my website. The preview on Blurb is good enough. Since we published the first full book draft on Feb 2nd, the pdfs have been requested a total of 13158 times resulting in 395GB downloaded content. Not bad. Lets hope at least a few of those that have downloaded the pdfs will actually order the book. Cheers, Carl EDIT: I changed my mind so I put the page back up, but removed all content except a link to the book's page on Blurb. Saves having to explain why people get 404 errors. The transfer link is a great idea. The count is for books shipped. There may be many on order. After all we have almost 50 photogs in the book.
