None of these shots would motivate me to acquire an X1.

Are these the best the camera is capable of?

I think that the BEST camera in the world won't take any good pictures when in hands of a POOR photographer.

The BEST camera in the world is only a tool in the hands of the photographer.

The eye and sensibility of the photographer are far more important than ANY brand.

I am very tempted by the little X1, but looking at some of these wonderful pictures, I know they would not exist without the photographer BEHIND the tool.

Just me, tks for reading.

I know that this has been said many times before but the photos above really look like film, not digital. There is an analog, smooth quality to them that is just beautiful. You can also really feel the different textures in the clothing and the fuzziness of the purple hat. The floor feels hard. The cardboard feels like cardboard and the pens feel like plastic. I want to dust those cheeks with sugar too and eat them for dessert. : )

I second this wholeheartedly. X1 is a wonderful tool when in good hands.

Can't wait to get mine.

These are very nice Edward. Must feel good to have the camera up and running!

Can I remind everyone on this thread of the forum rules for size limitations for posting photographs?

The maximum image size is 960 pixels on the longest side and around 300kb file size. By keeping to the forum limits, it makes the experience good for everyone.

Thank you

The Triangle Manchester

24mm 3.5

Freezing day !!

Comments welcome

Hi Peter,

You definitely have a fun angle going with this architecture. I like the colors of the triangle against the freezing blue sky but wonder whether if you went closer to the building, you could get some of that sky to reflect in the windows more. I say this because I find myself frustrated by the dark arching structure at the close upper right of the frame where you are standing. There is only a hint of it so, caught off balance my attention is drawn to the triangle and outward.

Here in lies the wonderful challenge we all face with our fixed-lens gadget! :)

How much can we fit into the frame, or how do we bring attention to something far off (in this case the triangle) when we can't zoom!

Anyway that is my two cents and I appreciate your sharing this one.

Peter,

I neglected to mention photoshop to eliminate the "arch" but there was so much in that photo...fun stuff. I have been known to PS away details like that that I missed in framing or that could not be moved for a photo op. from time to time.

And I also revisit a place and shoot a scene again...and again. I have several of those locally here.

Enjoy your new DLux

David
