Advertisement Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Hi farnz, Take a look here LUF Charity Book - >250 sold. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted June 22, 2010 Share #102 Posted June 22, 2010 By the way - is it intentional that the images at the back cover are forming an eye? It's not an eye - I put the back image together.
StS Posted June 22, 2010 Share #103 Posted June 22, 2010 I see (in the literal meaning as well). It appears to work out best, when dimming the light slightly. That must have been quite some work... Funny thing is, the postage says (in English) "P. P. - Swiss Post - Netherlands". I must have missed a reorganization . Probably trying to corner the cheese market... Bateleur Posted June 24, 2010 Share #105 Posted June 24, 2010 It arrived yesterday and frankly took my breath away, congratulations to Andy, Bill, Steve and all the editors for a superb production. May your efforts be rewarded by the purchase of at least one book per forum member! After looking through the blurb site where the Microsoft photo club raised a considerable amount for their cause lets show them what the Leica Forum can do! michali Posted June 24, 2010 Share #106 Posted June 24, 2010 Having been involved in the book project I couldn't wait to see the final product. I ordered 4 copies. Unbelievably it took 3 attempts to finally get my hands on it. The first shipment that arrived was some dreadful scrapbook of someones honeymoon in Spain! I contacted Blurb who apologized profusely for their error and reshipped. This second order never arrived, on enquiring, Fedex in France informed me that the parcel was lost. Back to Blurb again. To cut a long story short the books finally arrived this afternoon. All I can say is that I'm blown away, it has exceeded my expectations! A big thank you to everyone in the Forum who participated at all levels, from contributors, to the team involved in the production and to everyone who has purchased the book. andybarton Posted June 24, 2010 Author Share #108 Posted June 24, 2010 Thanks for everyone's support so far. It's great to know that the book is being received very well by everyone. One more copy and we will have sold 140, which is a further £700 to the Charity. We are hoping for some interesting news in the next week or so. Watch this space... stunsworth Posted June 25, 2010 Share #109 Posted June 25, 2010 Thanks for everyone's support so far. It's great to know that the book is being received very well by everyone. Indeed it is, and a big thank you (again) to everone who contributed - whether you are in the book or not. There was a lot of work for those of us involved in putting the book together, but seeing the amount already raised makes all of that worthwhile. stephen tidik Posted June 27, 2010 Share #110 Posted June 27, 2010 The book is fantastic, the images are of an extremely high caliber. I am blown away. Congratulations to all involved with the book. The editors and Forum staff went to a huge effort to make this book a reality, thank you so much. The book really belongs at major book stores like Barnes and Noble, so it can raise even more money for cancer research. Stephen
ptarmigan Posted June 29, 2010 Share #111 Posted June 29, 2010 I'd echo comments already made. The book is of stunning quality as are the images and I am humbled that I managed to get even one image inside. I urge everyone to buy this book, you won't be disappointed and it is in a good cause too.
RoySmith Posted June 30, 2010 Share #112 Posted June 30, 2010 I ordered the book a week ago and it arrived today. It shipped from Calgary so there was no customs. The quality of the pictures, and the printing are awesome. The photographers in this forum are exemplary. I looked up "exemplary" to check its spelling and found the definition: 1. Worthy of imitation; commendable: exemplary behavior. 2. Serving as a model. Its synonyms are: admirable, commendable, creditable, deserving, estimable, honorable, laudable, meritorious, praiseworthy, reputable, respectable, worthy. I think all of these adjectives are appropriate for the photographs and the photographers. Roy
markokiappo Posted July 1, 2010 Share #113 Posted July 1, 2010 My two copies are arrived; stunning editorial quality and great standard of images; I think too that the editors choice for each chapter really has captured the essence of the best images. I hope that the initiative could be repeated in coming years. Regards Marco

farnz Posted July 3, 2010 Share #117 Posted July 3, 2010 Re: The Back Cover. Very clever. I agree. For those who haven't noticed yet, try viewing the back cover from 10 metres away. I believe that the credit goes to Steve Unsworth. Pete.
bill Posted July 3, 2010 Share #118 Posted July 3, 2010 I believe that the credit goes to Steve Unsworth. It certainly does, as does a lot of the credit for the behind the scenes stuff like hosting the images for voting, etc. Regards, Bill
thompsonkirk Posted July 4, 2010 Share #119 Posted July 4, 2010 I echo Roy's 'exemplary,' & join all the people who were 'blown away' by the quality of images & their reproduction. My domestic partner Sarah (ssfoggy) is away in Korea, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity; but I'm sure she'll be equally happy to see her work in such fine company & fine print. stunsworth Posted July 4, 2010 Share #120 Posted July 4, 2010 Yes, really clever;just yesterday I realized what it is ; in particular which model you inspired? It was something that was introduced into the world two years before I was - I was born in 1956.
