swamiji Posted May 27, 2010 Share #7 Â Posted May 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) What are they good for anyway? Â Â Well if you are a visoflex owner, they make the shutter release button larger so the mirror release lever has better contact.
jaapv Posted May 27, 2010 Share #8 Â Posted May 27, 2010 I never felt the need - the Visoflex works perfectly well naked.

wilfredo Posted May 29, 2010 Share #10 Â Posted May 29, 2010 I always check to make sure mine is not loose every time I use it. That seems to be working. Whenever I touch it, I twist it clockwise.

Loctite Threadlocker 242 (blue medium strength) may be your solution. A minute dab. I bought a tube but haven't used it myself yet. Others on this forum recommended it. wilfredo Posted May 30, 2010 Share #14 Â Posted May 30, 2010 Someone else can probably answer that. From what I read it can easily be removed but I personally have not tried it.

Sometimes, the only way to remove Loctite is heating the sealed piece, something that I wouldn`t advise for a Leica. Appart from that, if Loctite goes into the shutter button, you may be in trouble.
budrichard Posted June 5, 2010 Share #18 Â Posted June 5, 2010 Red Locktite needs heat applied to release. Blue Locktite dosen't need any heat. Â Yesterday I remembered reading this Thread when I discovered one of newly installed 'Beep's missing from one of my M7's. In order to obtain a 'Beep' with a plain surface I ordered them from LFI for about 20 EURO with 20 EURO shipping. Well another one would cost me 40EURO's. I retraced my steps from where I was shooting a graduation to my vehicle with no luck. I remembered when I arrived I had taken a slight detour, well there it was, upside down looking for all the world like a tack, having lain there for an hour in a busy corridor. Anyway, as soon as I get some blue Locktite, it will be applied to one M7 and tested. I don't have any other ideas because even using reasonable force to screw it on, its still very easy to unscrew. I don't think it will do irreversable damage to the camera.-Dick
octo Posted June 5, 2010 Share #19 Â Posted June 5, 2010 Someone else can probably answer that. From what I read it can easily be removed but I personally have not tried it. I confirm a minute amount of blue loctite thread locker works perfectly and the soft release is easily removed without damaging the mechanism. Xmas Posted June 5, 2010 Share #20  Posted June 5, 2010 Hi  I'd not use locktite, as upon removal it can create debris, e.g. if you are using it in a engine oil environment you need to be careful, e.g. only using it on the last two threads at the external part, - i.e. don't try a drip on to the shutter button.  Nail varnish is more normally used in cameras cause it will remove with nail varnish remover. You don't use it on the threads, merely across the interface between assembled parts.  Simpler to not use an extension.  Noel
