Thank you! The credit belongs to Wilson because without his hint about the tyres it would have been impossible to solve this one 😉

Andreas, regret I have nothing new to post, so bat it back to you.

The picture is of a Moto Technique converted fuel injection Dino 246GTS just after I had been driving it in Sardinia. The fuel injection makes a big difference as you don't lose power on sharp left hand bends or as this car did previously, misfire badly in those circumstances. Everyone and their uncle had tried their patent remedies to cure this car, including replacing the 3 x 40DCNF-13 carburettors with 3 IDF 40-28's as used on the Lancia Stratos but it then had problems with heat soak. The fuel injection plus some attention to the breathing and cams increased power from the original 175 BHP (Italian sized miniature ponies) to a dyno proven 225 BHP with much improved flexibility.

When I went to look at the Mondial, these had to be moved to get it out. I have to say I'd love a Dino, but the price is now in another league.

Very good but not a Classic 400. Here is a wider crop:

Calessino?

Perfect, that‘s it.

Michael: the Ape is produced since the 50s (based on the Vespa, thus I used the term vehicle) but they started to reproduce the Ape Calessino in 2007:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piaggio_Ape

Looks like one of the 999 limited edition blue model from India for the European market.

Many years ago (after I told him I have a Vespa at home) our italian host offered me to try his old 50cc Ape on the wineyard roads around. He warned me to drive careful as it had a 200cc heart but the rest was 50cc incl. brakes. Uphill great, but downhill "interesting".

This rings a bell. 80s? My initial thought was Simca but I did not find a match.
Also reminds me of certain tuned Mantas. Maybe a smaller tuned Opel?

You are on a very good trace. 1980s? Yes! Manta? Not (only the bonnet hinge-joint of a Manta B). Smaller? Yes. Tuned? Not necessarily. It´s a serial made car. Opel? Yes and no.

Now some further hints and another crop. The car was serial made in "larger" (than expected) numbers. There was a similar looking car of the same model but from another maker which was made in much lower numbers (surprisingly around 100).

Opel Corsa (Vauxhall Nova) Cabriolet from circa 1985? I believe (the Opel versions of?) these were originally going to be made by Irmscher.

Given the choice between them I'd rather have the Dino featured a bit earlier...

A silver Firenza Droopsnoot would also be a good example. Sadly they were not available in white but there's always Halfords rattle cans.

Good call!

I had a (false) memory of a white version but now realise it must have been an eighties fever dream….

Was there an Opel model?

Philip, Irmscher is correct. About 1.500 (!!!)  were made and could be ordered at every Opel dealer. The name was Irmscher Corsa Spider A20.

You could personalize it with the complete Irmscher offerings. Up to 83hp with the 1.3ltr. engine. Also a hardtop was available. The soft top was primitive, not folded.

Only 15 survivors are known.

Your turn!
