You are close from the year of made (1924) but much too far south.

Indeed German and one of the minds behind has an aviation background.

As always in these years after WW I they had no job in aviation industry so they made cars.

The maker in question had quite some success for a while, they exported a lot of their production far far away and that broke their neck.

Owned by Audi now I think (this example not the marque .....the manufacturers having gone south not long after this one was made) Certainly there was one on display in 2016

1924 Slaby-Beringer is correct. It´s not in the Audi collection at the moment, but lend to another collection. This is the 3rd generation model which was availalbe with electric engine (like this "should" have) and a DKW gas engine. DKW founder Rasmussen liked them and ordered 100 electric cars. Later he was partner of SB-Automobilgesellschaft and after they went bancrupt, he saved investments by buying some company parts. 2005 cars made, 266 with DKW engine. Main market was Japan because electric cars boomed there. But an earthquake in 1923 destroyed many delivered cars and their main importer there, so they got in trouble.

Slaby was the son of one of the Telefunken founders and a studied aircraft engineer. After WWI he switched to automobiles like many did. After the crash of SB-company he became DKW engineer and developed the first DKW cars.

This looks a bit like a "grandfather's axe" restoration: "Wonderful axe; lasted 100 years with only 4 new handles and two new heads".  Bolting the carbide acetylene gas generator to the wooden body is probably not a great idea, given how hot they get.

I think this isn´t a gas generator anymore, it´s now the vaporizer bottle with brake cooling water for the rear friction brake 😉

Ronald,

I am surprised you would want water anywhere near a friction brake. The band brakes (external push forward lever) on the chain drive back axle of our 1904 Panhard et Levassor, which are poor in dry weather, become non-existent in the wet and you have to rely on braking very gently with the transmission brake (right hand pedal). The person who taught us to drive it, told us that it was called a transmission brake, because if you push it hard or suddenly, "it will break the transmission" .

Wilson,

the fender is in the way, won´t work. You are with your P&L brakes but here some spray on the rubber tyres won´t let the brakes fail completely, maybe just 40% 😉

Unfortunately I didn´t make a photograph from the back side, so I cannot see the exhaust the Audi collections soap box had. This one was on display as an electric car, maybe Audi had it rebuilt electric because it´s the so called "future".

Back in the early Twenties Berlin was the city of electro mobility, many makers and even taxis were electric driven. You might remember one of my older riddle cars, a fully electric bred delivery truck.

Slight digression with reference to prototype Bentley RC 7338 previously posted     https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/119687-name-this-car/?do=findComment&comment=3745926

The car is now in the care of The Real Car Co.Ltd. and was displayed in their marquee yesterday Saturday 22 June at The Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club Annual Rally, Burghley Park, Stamford, Lincs. UK

Real Car Co Ltd always displays hundreds of photos of their cars on the marquee 'walls' … but few visitors look at them; they look 'orrible' as a background thus I don't usually take any photos … but thought this model would be of interest:
