Jaguar Mk5?

Warmer... pretty good guess from the picture so far. Period is good too.

I think that if I give you any more it becomes pretty straightforward. So this is the final crop before I give you the whole car.

Bit of an old photograph (1973) and not a brilliant scan (apologies).

Of course, you are correct - well done!

My first guess was an RR Silver Dawn, basically the same car but I think you would have been able to see the RR on the centre of the hub caps.

Here is your next one - should not be difficult.

RR hub caps had a hexagonal centre. You would not see the RR any more than you can see the B in the middle of these - not the best photograph! I think that I was behind the camera at that time... not very old and obviously not good at focusing rangefinders! By the way, the giveaway on the wheels is that RR/Bentley have the painted stripe on the hub caps. I don't think that it was common on any other makes at that time.

Interestingly that's actually my mother - the Mark VI was a wedding present (1949) from my father which he repurchased (exactly the same car, not just the same model) and had brought up to concours condition and he bought himself the matching Dawn (small boot). A few years ago now...

Mike,

Thanks for posting that photo. A relative posing in front of the car? They are lovely cars to drive and it is such a pity that the very poor quality post war steel, made them so prone to the dreaded tin worm. My father came very close to buying a nearly new R Type Saloon (an updated Mk VI with a bigger boot) in 1955 to replace his Mk.VII Jaguar, which he did not like at all but in the end, bought a Mercedes 220a instead because he was worried about rust on the Bentley.

Possibly 1st series due to the smaller and Unchromed

Indicator light housing..

ps - No VIN available - lol:)

Very well spotted. It is indeed a 356A Cabriolet (tall windscreen - not a speedster). It is a series 1½, with the straight windscreen top bar but still the rounded front luggage compartment lid. This one now has a 1900cc pushrod engine and discs at the front. It is lovely to drive but even with the 1900 quite leisurely with a red line at the very low RPM of just 4800. We are looking to replace it with a 1700 or 2000cc 4 cam Carrera non-speedster Cabriolet series C or D, which are very rare. Porsche Classic in Stuttgart are on the hunt for us.

Your turn.

I was going to guess a 2009 impreza, but after a bit of googling, i know I'm wrong.

I know what it is, i either see or drive one regularly - but can't figure out what it actually is
