Ronald, yes it is, which does not bode well for a keeping this car a mystery for very long until it is identified.

John, you guessed exactly what I meant in my admonishment - Yes, we have no bananas…...it's not a Pegaso.

John, mentioned details still help being a smoke ball

Ronald,

as you correctly guessed, it is a cabriolet with a khaki-colored top. '51 vintage to be precise, one of four similar cars built by this coach builder for this manufacturer.

One of the first cars by this manufacturer to be done in metallic paint.

The main difference between the car shown and other cars by this manufacturer is a departure in the styling of a key part between this car and the traditional treatment of the same component of this maker's cars, clearly shown in the cropped image above.

Wilson,

In my view, the grill is the key to identifying this car. What's shown is a definite departure from the instantly identifyable grilles this manufacturer's cars usually sport.

It is not a Cunningham, although some Cunninghams were bodied by the same Italian coach builder.

Actually the car was entered by a Swiss collector.

You are absolutely correct. A 1951 Ferrari 212 Inter Vignale Cabriolet, Ser.# 0159EL.

Amazing how profoundly merely changing the traditional Ferrari egg-crate grill to the vertical chrome bar Michelotti-styled front alters the car's entire persona.

Thanks for sticking with it, your turn.

Given that it was used by Ferrai, Maserati, Cunningham and maybe others, that Vignale body, which looks a bit clumpy and heavy to modern eyes, was the flavour of the month. As my main Mac is off at the menders for either a new graphics board or main logic board, may I pass the baton to anyone else? Trying to resize and post photos from an iPad is a real heave.
