Correct! I should have taken a smaller crop for Ronald

Austro-Daimler was an Austrian automaker company, from 1899 until 1934. It was subsidiary of the German Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. In 1911 Austro-Daimler began producing the Prinz Heinrich (in English: Prince Henry) model; this car, which featured an overhead cam 5,714-cc four-cylinder engine, quickly became famous. It could develop 95 bhp at 2,100 rpm; there was also a less potent version with side valves and a 6,900-cc engine capable of developing 60 hp (45 kW) at only 1,200 rpm. It was designed by Ferdinand Porsche.

The car is named after an automobile contest called Prince Heinrich Tour, named after Prince Albert Wilhelm Heinrich of Prussia, an automobile enthusiast, which was an held from 1908 to 1911.

Only production touring cars with four seats and three passengers were admitted, no special made race cars. The trophy for the winner was a model car made of 13,5 kg silver.

Ferdinand Porsche won in 1910. (Source:Wikipedia)

The photos are from a quite nice Porsche exhibition in Linz, Austria, that will be open until 18 November 2012.

Andreas -

Beautiful. I think the crop that might have slowed Rona|d just a bit would have been like this:

Stuart, from that crop, that must be an Austro-Daimler Prinz Heinrich Wagen :p

Andreas, thanks for so many background info about the car. I will post the next car this evening.

andreas, is this the only one, or are others known?

I used to have a similar car - the Rabagliati Brooklands Special (also known as BXB8), based on a 6.5L Bentley. It was made by W.O Bentley's brother "H M" in 1934, by taking a 1926 6.5L, Big Six chassis and shortening plus narrowing and lowering it, then fitting a full race 6.5L engine, big brakes, high ratio back axle, etc.

It was originally designed to be used at Le Mans and therefore had a very close coupled, narrow 4 seat body to meet the Le Mans regulations. It was never used at Le Mans due to the poor health of Col. Euan Rabagliati, probably resulting from the infamous crash at Brooklands in 1930, where his car rolled into the crowd (the origin of "Motor Racing is Dangerous" posters). However he did set a 117.6 MPH lap at Brooklands in 1937 in the car, which meant it must have been doing around 135 MPH down the straights.

Sadly, I don't have any pictures with me in France, which I can post but pictures of it can be found in most Bentley books.

That one was obviously too easy so what about this one....

Don't bother looking at the EXIF file name - it's not going to help you!

From what we see so far I'm looking forward to seeing photos of the entire car. Let's kick it off with Talbot Lago?

Afraid not Stuart. As far as I know all road going Talbot Lagos had pre-selector gearboxes, as the owner of T-L, Major Anthony Lago, owned both Wilson Gearboxes in the UK and Cotal in France.
