Andreas.Pichler Posted July 12, 2012 Share #3701 Posted July 12, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) A try to make Stuart sleep well: 1936 Ford V8 Cabriolet But it is not so easy...the 1936 has had its doors hinged at the A-posts, not at the B-posts. Gläser in Dresden produced Ford V8 Cabriolets with doors hinged at the A-post - but these cars have had 4 windows, as far as I have found out. Andreas.Pichler Posted July 12, 2012 Share #3703 Posted July 12, 2012 Thank you Stuart. But can you tell us if is a special body from Gläser, or is it really an original Ford body? Cheers, Andreas
Andreas.Pichler Posted July 12, 2012 Share #3704 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) Lets stay with Gläser, Deutsch, Tickford, Vanden Plas, Crayford and all the other manufacturers of special bodies for production cars. This one is an interesting example: The manufacturer made a luxury special out of a pure production sports car (normally, the "special" is a sports car built up on a shortened sedan chassis with a funky fantasy looking-sporty-30ies body). They beefed up several of our small sports car, and they have been well know in those days. Dashboard shot show lots of switches for gizmos, not to mention that this car has had power windows. Marquee and "Car Couterier", please! Cheers, Andreas Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! stuny Posted July 12, 2012 Share #3705 Posted July 12, 2012 I couldn't guess. Regarding the Ford Cabriolet, it has an Alexis Kellner body mounted to a model 68 frame.
steed Posted July 13, 2012 Share #3706 Posted July 13, 2012 There is a badge which is partially cut off but is visible on the bottom. It says MG to me. John W

Andreas.Pichler Posted July 13, 2012 Share #3712 Posted July 13, 2012 Not a TD, prewar. Not Swallow, the coachworker of our riddle car has been founded more in the London region. J_Thompson Posted July 14, 2012 Share #3713 Posted July 14, 2012 Here's a wild guess... MG TA with Tickford body?
Andreas.Pichler Posted July 14, 2012 Share #3714 Posted July 14, 2012 John, MG TA is correct, but not Tickford. One more hint: The riddle cars bodywork has been made out of aluminium. Cheers, Andreas

Dr. No Posted July 14, 2012 Share #3716 Posted July 14, 2012 Park Ward MG TA Drophead Coupe 'Symphony' 1936
Andreas.Pichler Posted July 14, 2012 Share #3717 Posted July 14, 2012 The car has been constructed in 1936 by Charles Ward, son of one of the founders of Park Ward in Willesden (North London). Charles liked to have a car for his personal use, but it should have a Park Ward body. Rolls-Royce, the normally used chassis for a Park Ward bodied car, was a little bit above Charles' budget, so he decided to take an less expensive but very strength MG TA chassis. To make the car not so heavy, aluminium has been used for the body. The engine became power tuned, and here we: MG TA Park Ward Drophead Coupé. The car has been sold to Holland 1985 and underwent a frame off restoration. Today, the car is a regular participant at MG events and classic rallies. My photos have ben taken at Borderline Rallye (named so because the rallye crosses the german/dutch border several times) 2009 during one of the occasional stops to see what the other participants have dragged out of their garages. Indeed, Park Ward and Muliner merged in 1961 to Muliner Park Ward, so Bill is not so far away. But 1936, the coachworker was Park Ward. So, Olaf (Dr. No) its your turn! Andreas.Pichler Posted July 15, 2012 Share #3720 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) Thank @ all for the friendly comments - I am allways glad if I can share, especially MG. I think the main point is that the dutch owner shows this very special car at a lot of events and rallies, without any profit for himself. You can see in the last photo he likes to talk about the car and to explain everything to everybody (the guy with the photo album). Thats this special MG thing - you are very close to these special cars and to the people - "marquee of friendship". So the owner is the one which we have to clap hands - otherwhise it would not be possible to take these photos. But now lets investigate what Olaf served us...
