John,

You are really good. For the rest of you, it was a special run of Alfas on a Guilia chassis sporting a light weight Zagato body that recalled the great 1750 Gran Sport of the early 1930's.

They were built in the 1960's are there are probably only a few dozen of them in the world.

I had a chance to inspect one in detail a few years ago.

John, You are really good.

Not really, as one of the guys in our local Alfa Owners club has one and the tail light kindled my (ever fading :)) memory. I'll see what I can find and post something shortly. Your "major player" comment was a big hint, also.

If this is too difficult, clues will follow. Manufacturer and model, please.

The headlight remains me on a airplane engine...

Ghia designed for Chrysler ("...italian influence...")...

So what about Chrysler Ghia Turbine?

Cheers, Andreas

PS: Sorry, had not seen James answer shortly before, was in edit mode...

Correct, Andreas! It's a 1963 Chrysler Turbine with body by Ghia with engine in the foreground. One of 55 built for testing by the public but most were destroyed, though. I thought this might be difficult but should have known better! Over to you as you correctly identified the model - (turbine).

Thank you, John! I found a photo of this car in the net, showing the rear stern: very impressive, looks like the college car of James T. Kirk:

Will come soon with the next challenge...

Cheers, Andreas

PS: I like your shot the museum very much - a good "bottom line" of the car and its "interiors"!

PPS: "...I thought it might be difficult..." - "italian influence" was the key.

Jevidon seems to be on the money with the era - I was thinking about 1958 with the nearly Baroque trim. A Chrysler Ghia he suggests could be it, but not the Chrysler Maseratti which had rectangular headlights.

More on this car's styling from Wikipedia:

"The car itself was designed in the Chrysler studios under the direction of Elwood Engel, who had worked for the Ford Motor Company before his move to Chrysler. Engel used many older Ford styling themes. The rear taillight/bumper assembly was copied directly (with revisions) from a 1958 Ford styling study called the 'La Galaxie'."

Chrysler had a long history of collaboration with Itialian coachbuilders and stylists during the fifties producing limited production cars and styling exercises. I beleive that this Ghia model is unfortunately the last example of that effort. Shame it didn't continue, but now Chrysler is owned by Fiat, so who knows what the future may bring?

I really love this sticker on the windscreen of our hmhmhm - does it mean you have to explore your own oil to keep this car running?

Cheers, Andreas

Neal - you've got it! AMC Ambassador.

Shot has been taken during the Bremen Classic Motorshow (early February, in Germany we have had up to -16 degrees Celsius) in the parking house (M8/Summilux 50) - if you like to look out for your next classic car in below zero degree atmosphere, this is a wonderful place!

So Neal - its up to you!

Cheers, Andreas

PS: Sorry, was editing again my post before, so I recognized your answer too late.
