wlaidlaw Posted March 20, 2024 Share #21422 Posted March 20, 2024 An early 70's Maserati Quattroporte?
a.j.z Posted March 20, 2024 Share #21423 Posted March 20, 2024 Yes to Maserati.
NigelG Posted March 20, 2024 Share #21424 Posted March 20, 2024 Vignale?
IkarusJohn Posted March 20, 2024 Share #21425 Posted March 20, 2024 It looks like a 1960 3500 GTC Quattroporte. If I’m right, Stuart can post another movie car (though not “Eleanor” please!)
wlaidlaw Posted March 20, 2024 Share #21426 Posted March 20, 2024 If it is not the Quattroporte from the early 70's then I would say a 3500GT from the 1960's. I think the camera lens is somewhat visually exaggerating the size of the boot. The rear lights look right for a 1961 LWB car. These lovely looking cars were not that great to drive with rather primitive rear suspension from the solid rear axle, vague worm and roller steering box and the brakes on the earlier drum brake cars were dire. The later Maserati Mistrale cars are far nicer and the 4 litre in particular is a lovely car. It would have been my choice when I was buying a classic car in 2010 but was a bit outside the budget. What the 911 cost me to restore by the end of the process, would have actually bought me an adequate if not really good 3.5L Mistrale Coupé. Mind you I very much doubt if a Mistrale would have started first turn of the key after sitting immobile in my garage for the last 18 months, like my 911 RSR did on Monday, even if it was very smokey until it got all the excess oil back out of the sump into the oil tank, which took about 5 miles. It has gone to Precision Porsche for its final service before sale boo hoo. Wilson
a.j.z Posted March 21, 2024 Share #21427 Posted March 21, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes, Wilson is ritht with the 3500GT (not sure about the precise year, but 60s). I asume that Nigel meant the right thing with Vignale, at it is a convertible. As Wilson currently does not post I thus would say over to Nigel. I do not have many photos, it is the one in the middle (you also can guess the other ones): Welcome, dear visitor! NigelG Posted March 23, 2024 Share #21434 Posted March 23, 2024 Yes correct - a Bentley Mulsanne (2015 model Speed version I think) Will post the whole pic later when back. Much better looking IMHO than the following version with the very blingy vertical chrome grille
