a.j.z Posted July 6 Share #23601 Posted July 6 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Welcome to the thread, Patrick! Not Australian. The Viewt would have been an interesting riddle car. I have never heard about it. I will wait till everybody around the globe could see the latest crop and then post a new one. Patrick1955 Posted July 7 Share #23604 Posted July 7 or more probably Steyr 55 - what a good find by Perkin
a.j.z Posted July 7 Share #23605 Posted July 7 Excellent! Yes a Steyr 55, also called Steyr Baby, from 1939. Production ended 1940 due to the war. It had a 4 cyl front engine and RWD, 1158 ccm, 25.5 hp and 4 gears. Together with the 50, 13.000 were built. As the 55 rather is a facelift of the 50, I give it to Perkin. We look forward to the next car! Welcome, dear visitor! Perkin Posted July 13 Share #23613 Posted July 13 Well done Wilson. I didn't think anyone would get it and I would have to post a photo of the dip-stick! Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted July 13 Share #23614 Posted July 13 I still remember the day in 1951 when my father's Mk.5 was delivered. He had ordered it in British Racing Green but the car that turned up was in old English white. Back in those days, you took what the factory sent you. The Mk.5 was a stop gap for the Mk.7 my father had on order but whose production was much delayed. Oddly he really liked the Mk.5 and when the Mk.7 arrived two and a half years later, he never liked it and had loads of problems with it. The Mk.5 had the same Standard derived engine as my pre-war SS100 had. A very torquey and smooth straight six. Open to all to post. Wilson

IkarusJohn Posted July 16 Share #23619 Posted July 16 That’s a 2CV, but we’re still working on the previous car. The way this works is, if you correctly guess a mystery car, you get to post a new puzzle car, or part of one. General photos of cars are probably better posted in the photo forum - the clue is in the title of this thread …

Wilson Yes, a small race car (500 ccm engine from a motorcycle) used for Formula 3 racing. Not US. It may be a little unfair as only this one example exists and the owner built it himself.
