The other folk who did/do Mercedes conversions are Mecatechnic, as my brother has just had them make a C126 Coupé for him with a 5.5L AMG V8 and 5 speed auto in it plus loads of other updates to make it drive like a modern car. However I think they may have only started in 1983, which I am fairly sure this car pre-dates.

There were  Crayford estate versions I think - certainly some 1970’s W116 450SELs.

Coming closer with 450 but when you look at the car it has damaged shocks OR ..... 😉

Not Crayford.

Is it a Pollman 450SEL 6.9 estate conversion?

Must have missed your posting. It is indeed one of two made Pollmann 450 SEL 6.9 made in Bremen.

It has the hydropneumatic level regulation on both axles, hence it looks so low when not driving. A similar system was later used on the rear axle of the better equipped works W124 T models.

My dad sometimes had a new 6.9 of a client in our garage when he visited our town. Was fun to be chauffeured in it as a kid.

So your turn!

My guess is, that the details can be mirrored for the left end of the car, so not just double pipes.

You may well be right

Spot on a.j.z.

The Ferrari specialist I bought my Mondial T from, Nick Cartwright, is a Dino specialist. He has bought his first in 1971, and including sale stock, in for repair and restoration, plus his own, he has about 20.

Thank you! The credit belongs to Wilson because without his hint about the tyres it would have been impossible to solve this one 😉

I've loved the Dino's looks since the first 206.  Just so we can enjoy the beautiful Pininfarina bodywork, here's an example
