The curved-boxy rear decklid is something like that of an Enzmann 506 Coupe/Spyder but, rather annoyingly, I can't find / no longer have my book on Coachbuilt VW's so can't verify that this particualr air-intake design is from such a car.

Philip.

Not an Enzmann.

I (now!) think it's a Colani GT from 1960...

Philip.

Well done, Philip!

Sorry no further "full car" shots but you guys can google it. About 360 body kits made from 1964 to 1968 in Berlin.

Designer Luigi (Lutz) Colani also made a follow up GT2 with a plexiglass roof and had a big tour through India and Sri Lanka with it, well. The predecessor of the GT was an Abarth Alfa Romeo 1300 Berlinetta which hit a record for GT cars at Nordschleife under 10 minutes.

Colani designed everything from houses, cities, furnitures, police uniforms, trucks to cameras (EOS T90, mother of all EOS cameras).

Your turn!

Thank you, Ronald,

I have been trying to think where I saw one in the past and remembered there was one which used to be displayed on the 'VW Scene' back in the very late '80s (or, at a push, possibly 1990) when I was busy sourcing OEM parts for my '59 Ragtop and my flatmate was doing the same for his RHD '55 Karmann Convertible.

Back then there were some very rare VW-based cars to be seen on the UK show-circuit. The 'highlight' event was always the Peppercorn VW Show which always had some crackers such as Denzels, Hebmullers and one regular attendee used to bring the one-off Stoll coupe. Quite a remarkable selection. There was also a section for what referred to as 'Kit Cars' and whilst the majority were such fare as various Beach Buggys and 'Wizard' convertible conversions there were also more exotic - and bona fide - marques such as Devin, Nova and the Colani.

OK; Here's something which is just as sculptural as the Colani in its own way. Just general info; Marque and Model will suffice;

Makes me think of something Pagani would make

I think Paganis are more refined than what's shown here - this appears to be fiberglass not carbon fiber, and the hint of the transverse fender-to-fender vent / scoop as shown in the right & left corners of the image, to my eyes suggest a Lotus Elise.......but given my recent 'hit rate' in this game I suspect I am probably wrong - yet again.

Spot-on with your thinking, John. It is a Lotus Elise.

I had a vague idea that the 'Papaya Orange' might hint, for a short time, towards the McLaren train of thought but No Fooling Some Folks.

Only came across this car parked-up last week so have no idea about its genesis but from the badge-work it is Supercharged(!). Having been priviledged to have experienced track days with three different specs of the normally aspirated Elise I can only imagine what a Supercharged version must be like when driven with spirit!

The 'plates on this car suggest that its home is in the Midi Pyrenees yet it had made the jaunt northward to La Rochelle. Routes dependent it could have been a fun journey!

View of whole thing;

Over to you, John, for the next puzzler!

Philip.

Thank you, Philip. Here's the next one for the experts to mull over.........make, model and approx. vintage, please.

Forgive the grainy cropped image but I really had to cut it down to hide some obvious badges & details.

Wilson, Andreas and Ronald - the car shown is not an OSCA, a Stanguellini, nor a Cisitalia. In fact, it is not Italian at all. It does have an Italian connection in that the individual who created the body by hand was Italian.

Andreas, sorry about the typo - I meant say V-Lux-114.

This has all the ear marks, now that the initial series of guesses have been made, of languishing for several days and then posting another clue.....so here's the clue now.

Viv, if that is your guess to cover the red car, then NO, it's not a Porsche of any kind, nor is it German.

Wilson, I'm unable to confirm whether the hubcaps are from a SP250 or not, but offer another crop along with a two-part hint, that the Daimler SP 250 and the original 'donor' car for this one-off special originated in the same country.

Ah, this is funny. I could forbid myself to mention the british looking additional front lights (blinkers?). For a moment I even thought it could be an early and special Aston Martin and I even thought there is "some" Jaguar C-Type in the front end, haha. The end looks more Alvis-like.
