Maybe you remember what you have seen where. 50/60s quite possible as already mentioned above. This was a little bit evasive regarding the question, whether it is German. Does your answer mean it is partly German or a German was involved in the design? It also somehow looks very familiar to me. I am thinking about 2 seater convertibles like a Fiat Spider Duetto or an E-Type or even a Porsche 356 but the details do not fit. stuny Posted January 6, 2022 Share #16782 Posted January 6, 2022 Andreas - I believe you mean Alfa Romeo Duetto, which it is not of any version. It's also not any FIAT I can recall. It does look familiar, though.

John Z. Goriup Posted January 6, 2022 Share #16785 Posted January 6, 2022 In the 1950s Porsche and VW commissioned two-seater roadsters & cabriolets bodied by various coachbuilders ( Beutler, Romitsch, Bauer, Reuter, Denzel, etc. and many more whose names I simply can't recall ) because neither had sufficient capacity to fill demand after the war, Beutler, Romitsch, Bauer, Denzel, etc and many more whose names I simply can't recall.........could this be one of them ? If you require commiting to something more specific, I think it's most likely an early 50's Porsche offering, based on the use of the commercially available Hella lights. Rona!d Posted January 6, 2022 Share #16786 Posted January 6, 2022 It hold 5 world records. You can combine Stu´s and John´s assumptions with the non mentioned missing small coach maker maybe called "etc." (not Beutler, Rometsch, Bauer, Denzel). Not a Porsche, not an open car. Rona!d Posted January 6, 2022 Share #16789 Posted January 6, 2022 vor einer Stunde schrieb stuny: 1950s DKW Monza Coupe? Well done, Stu! 1957 (series 2) DKW Monza. Fibre glass body based on the DKW F93 (3=6 cyl.) They started to build them at Dannenhauer & Stauss (Dannenhauer was working for Porsches coachbuilder Reutter/Stuttgart in the 1930s/40s where they made pre-war, pre-series VW Beetles). This late DKW Monza (1957) was build at Massholder or Schenk for DKW dealer Wenk. DKW stopped delivery of chassis when they started their own "little Thunderbird" DKW 1000 SP Roadster/Coupe. Dannenhauer & Stauss (the first series coachbilder) made the nice VW beetle based two seaters just like Beutler, Rometsch, Denzel before VW launched the Karmann Ghia and stopped delivering VW beetle chassis to them. History repeating with DKW. Maybe 230 Monzas built and still 40-50 alive. Assume this is one of the most sought-after DKWs. Lovely little sports car. Your turn! Welcome, dear visitor! John Z. Goriup Posted January 7, 2022 Share #16791 Posted January 7, 2022 It's a Spyker plug-in EV. Horrible car, in fact all the cars they ever produced were awful, they ran a terribly mis-managed company, couldn't accomplish anything of value in Formula 1 either, couldn't do anything with SAAB...........it seems they have finally gone terminally banrupt last year and hopefully have seen the light and will try their hand in another industry. If it's not a Spyker I will yet again have made a total ass of myself. JZG

wlaidlaw Posted January 7, 2022 Share #16793 Posted January 7, 2022 The DKW Monza is a much prettier car than the later Auto Union 1000SP. When I was at college in Switzerland in the 1960's, my flat mate had one of the 1000SP Coupés. We both kept our cars in Charlie Chaplin's spare garage space in Vevey. We had to pay him the rent personally in cash, on the 1st of every month. He was very insistent it had to be handed to him and not to anyone else in the household! Rona!d Posted January 7, 2022 Share #16794 Posted January 7, 2022 What a story, Wilson! Agree about the Monza vs 1000SP and it was similar fast or even faster with 10 hp less in series trim (much lighter!). I saw a tuned race Monza with 90+ hp - really impressive little beast.
