Advertisement Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 Hi Charles Morgan, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Rona!d Posted January 2, 2021 Share #14262 Posted January 2, 2021 Judged by the paint I guess this could be a police version of the riddle car. And it is a later model but with the classic engine.

Charles Morgan Posted January 2, 2021 Share #14264 Posted January 2, 2021 (edited) And Ronald is spot on about the engine. Definitely not to be mistaken for a later model (below) Taken with Orwo N74 too... Welcome, dear visitor! Charles Morgan Posted January 2, 2021 Share #14266 Posted January 2, 2021 (edited) White smoke from the exhaust (which is more than the car was ever capable of). Bonus points for model! I was hoping it would spin out a bit longer to get my more feste than fast jest, and the odd mention of Tannhauser, and BMW. Welcome, dear visitor! What did the 'car designers' of that era have against making things beautiful? Seriously; these things were being designed! Someone, somewhere, thought that in some way THIS THING was appropriate to be foisted on the paying public! And was Paid for his contribution!!! Good grief... Philip. Rona!d Posted January 2, 2021 Share #14269 Posted January 2, 2021 When the 353 came out it looked pretty modern, even compared to many western cars that size/class. The chassis was based on a pre-war construction, they made the best they can do. The later design studies which should have had replaced the 353 design got a cut from "Berlin headquarter", also their own 4-stroke engine which would have been the better choice than the 1.3ltr. VW-engine. In the former Eisenach factory I saw the design studies and must say they were heavily influenced by modern french cars although the Wartburg developers didn´t wan´t to hear that when I spoke to some of them years ago. They insisted that western car makers copied their studies although "the copies" had been mass produced earlier than their prototypes or design models had been made. The allegedly "stolen" designs didn´t start with VW Golf or Passat but in the late 1950s/early 1960s with Simcas, Renaults etc. One "modern" Wartburg 313-2 Coupe prototype for example looked like a Renault Floride, but came a year later. Eisenach had a great tradition with the BMWs made there. After WW2 they hoped to produce other cars than the DKW 2-stroke copies and follow ups ending with the Wartburg 353. The early EMW models were mostly prewar BMWs or based on them but who needed a 6 cyl. in the GDR? Even BMW Munich had problems to make money with luxary cars. A licensed italian 250/300cc micro car and later a 600cc own model saved their a$$.

stuny Posted January 4, 2021 Share #14276 Posted January 4, 2021 When Nissan first released the vehicle I referred to it as a Nissan Pathblinder since when following it you can't see what's ahead. Who knew it would become an immense plague?

stuny Posted January 5, 2021 Share #14280 Posted January 5, 2021 My initial though is a small Japanese car never imported to the US. I may have seen one of these on Kanazawa.
