wlaidlaw Posted July 25, 2017 Share #10063  Posted July 25, 2017 Schuco Studio 1050, I never had one  (i´ll ask my wife)  Correct both you and Dunk but the 1957 model number is 1064. It is the Schuco W25 Mercedes. I have had this one since I was 11 years old. I even still have the box, with the price of 69 Austrian Schillings on it and all the tools. It is the only one of my childhood toys I managed to save from my mothers obsession with giving away other people's property. The tyres were completely perished and a few years ago I wrote to Schuco, asking if I could buy a new set. They sent me a new set FOC - no wonder they kept going bankrupt! I had a professional toy repairer then replace the rubber on the push down/pull back winding wheel and repaint the car, as most of the original blue paint had fallen off.  Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted July 25, 2017 Share #10069  Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) Hello Wilson,  Did you ever think that they might have gone bankrupt even sooner if it hadn't been for the support they got from their customers because of helping them the way that they helped you?  Enjoy your car.  Best Regards,  Michael  Michael,  Schuco must be one the most frequently bankrupt companies in Germany. It is a sign of the affection in which they are held, that they keep getting rescued. My comment was somewhat tongue in cheek. I think sending me free tyres was excellent PR. Unlike Leitz Microsystems who charged me €20  parts, postage and handling costs for a tiny spring for my vintage Leitz Microscope, that must cost ¢25 to make and I had to pay by bank transfer - not good PR!  Wilson Edited July 25, 2017 by wlaidlaw
a.j.z Posted July 25, 2017 Share #10070 Â Posted July 25, 2017 The box says: "For the little racecar mechanic". So of course they had to provide spare parts ;-)

wlaidlaw Posted July 27, 2017 Share #10077 Â Posted July 27, 2017 I shared an apartment in London for 4 years with an enthusiast for this marque. He always seemed to have three cars on the go. One working, one being taken apart and one being put back together. The smell of Castrol LHM takes me straight back there. There always seemed to be these spheres lying around, needing "regonfler" with nitrogen
