a.j.z Posted February 8, 2017 Share #9341  Posted February 8, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) This is the Red Bull Ring, the Austrian F1 circuit, so unfortunately no extra points for that  Regarding the orange car: GT yes, the rest no.  There was a Ginetta there but not this one. I understand it at least originally had a BRM engine. It was raced in the UK and South Africa. Edited February 8, 2017 by a.j.z

wlaidlaw Posted February 12, 2017 Share #9346  Posted February 12, 2017 (edited) Here is your next one. Also a race car but maybe a tad slower than the Nomad. The driver is looking a bit pensive before the depart of the London to Brighton run from Hyde Park. It might be that he had heard the weather forecast. I was driving a 30HP Panhard with considerably more protection from the elements than on this car, albeit still no windscreen. I don't think I have ever been quite so wet, cold and miserable, as when I pulled into Madeira Drive in Brighton. The second we pulled out of Hyde Park, the heavens opened and it stayed raining like that all the way to Brighton. I think we got through at least two cans of WD40 on the cloth covered ignition cables.  Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted February 14, 2017 Share #9348  Posted February 14, 2017 (edited) The radiator placement on this model is pretty unique and although the marque did not continue for long with this arrangement, they stuck for the following nearly 30 years with an unusual radiator location, long after most other makers had put it in front of the engine. The car does not use an engine made by the constructor but a proprietary engine from the major automobile maker in the country, when this model came out. Edited February 14, 2017 by wlaidlaw

The type K had a Renault 4 cylinder engine. If you saw them side by side, the K is considerably larger. This is a tiny car.  Wilson

wlaidlaw Posted February 19, 2017 Share #9353  Posted February 19, 2017 Correct Dunk. Also known as the type E. It did amazingly well against the giant engined opposition in the city to city motor racing of the time. At that time the 7.5HP single cylinder De Dion Bouton engine probably produced not a lot more than 7.5BHP, in other words enough today for a fairly low powered motor cycle. This one with its spindly wire wheels, looks a lot more handsome in my eyes than the usual artillery wheel version. I think that means it was a genuine factory race car rather than the production version. Your turn.  Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! dkCambridgeshire Posted February 23, 2017 Share #9359  Posted February 23, 2017 Benz dog carts were manufactured outside Germany and if anyone knows where and by whom, the manufacturer (assembler) of this 'badge engineered' Benz should be easy.  dunk
wlaidlaw Posted February 23, 2017 Share #9360  Posted February 23, 2017 Well it could be an Arnold-Benz from England, Roger-Benz from France or Mueller-Benz from the USA and probably more from other countries, so lets guess at an Arnold-Benz.  Wilson
