Me too... well, Italian, Fiat engine and... the brand isn't difficult.... considering my previous posts... ;)

They made 500 about... but now that I have heavily hinted... :)... I expect that one can also say which was its technological peculiarity...

Wilson -

I think not. The Abarth 1000 Bialbero Zagato was a coupe, if I recall, and have the Zagatos and Abarths been inexpensive enough to fit Luigi's clues?

Stuart,

I think you are right - too expensive. In the 1960's my father splashed out and bought an Abarth-Simca 1300 GT Coupé for my mother (cough cough) from the Dickson Racing stand on the Glasgow Motor Show (being totally egged on by me). My mother was a dreadful driver and hated it, as not a lot happened under 5000 RPM, which she had never reached in her life. Sadly it was sold on after a few months just before I started to drive, so I never got to drive the lovely little thing. It was red lined at 8000 RPM, unheard of for a road car of the era and when my father drove it, sounded like a really enraged wasp.

So instead of the Abarth, I am going to go for a Autobianchi Stellina spyder.

Yes, not an Abarth... and not a car with the racing character of Abarths (some of them were really legendary...) ; but look again at post #4975 about the brand.... ;)

Luigi,

So what about my suggestion above of a Autobianchi Stellina spyder?

Thanks for showing this one, Luigi. In my eyes it looked like a mix between a big nice Lancia Convertible and some early Japanese sportscars - all shrunken in a hot washing programme.

I remember having a ride in an Autobianchi Bianchina Convertible. Frightening but cute.

Wilson?

Could I pass the baton for the moment. I am not very mobile for another 2 weeks until my new ankle's glue dries. I cannot carry big external drives around to look for pics, as I am walking with 2 crutches.

Sorry, Wilson. I forgot about your surgery. I trust it went well?

I suspect that Wilson will get this one, even on crutches:
