Thanks for your answers so far. John (steed) comes closest, concerning the nationality. But its not an Alta. John Thompson, Stuart: 1935 is very good concerning the timeline.

Cheers, Andreas

John, you are right! It's an R Type, produced in 1935 (10 cars), maybe the first british car with independent front and rear suspension. Unfortunately, this suspension was not as good as the engineers thought it would be, so the car was not very successful.

John - its up to you!

Great shots of a "wish I was there" moment. Here is my next clue, and I would rate this one as having a high degree of difficulty. It is not what you think it is....i.e., not a Thunderbird. Good luck

Andreas, why don't we save a little bandwidth here and just go with Steed's riddle car. It's fine with me and will save time, too. My guess? Looks like it was taken at the Petersen Museum but other than that, I haven't a clue. Maybe a one-off.

If we are working on my post, let me acknowledge good detective work. The clue depicts a one off which is at the Peterson. I can only say that I would not have gotten this one if I did not already know what it is.

If we are not, I understand perfectly. It will keep...

If it doesn´t just "look like", it´s not really a one off car. Ghia made eigth Supersonics on FIAT 8V chassis plus three on XK120 and one on a DB2/4 chassis. All had slightly different looks (bumpers etc.).

Obviously clients could deliver their own chassis.

Wow, seems we already had this car in 2010. I thought of that Ghia body aside with one or two "rocket exhaust looking rear light" alternative powered US concept cars which had much larger back lights and could be excluded in a way. Knew about different Supersonic chassis (XK120 + that sick later Cobra) but had to google that one Aston chassis.

So let´s see if I can proceed.

Fiat Supersonic it is. Well done. Here is a rather mediocre picture of the car (tradition dictates that you post the full image). To the winner...
