Nice car, Ronald, but would still rather have the SL model. Here's the next mystery car.

Promised, I will take a rest next month, so forgive me some info about this nice little show car and why I mentioned Italy AND US ;)

The Italian part:

It was made back in 1953, designed by Franco Scaglione, built by Bertone using a FIAT chassis and Stanguellini 1,1 ltr engine.

The US part:

In 1954 Laura Cummingham got this car as a gift from her husband Briggs, the famous car importer and racing team owner. Laura didn´t have much fun with this car so just some months later racing car driver Luciano Tonino bought it as a wedding gift for his son who owned it until the mid 2000´s.

So guys, which car are we talking about? Might it be chassis # 103TV071366, engine # 103006071608? If so, we are talking about a 1953 Stanguellini FIAT Berlinetta which caught the attraction of Briggs and Laura Cunningham at the 1954 New York Auto Show.

Stanguellini aimed these kind of cars to rich americans who started to fell in love with custom made little beasts.

If I´m wrong, I´m completely clueless ;)

Ronald is once again correct. This is a 1953 Stanguelini with body by Bertone. Unfortunately it never made it into larger-scale production, probably due to its price. And yes, this is indeed the Cunningham car which he purchased at the 1954 New York Auto Show. Back to you, Ronald and nice going. BTW, I'll take your word on the serial numbers.:p

Thank you Stuart and don't feel too badly about not guessing this one, as Stanguellini made very few berlinettas or touring cars and they only made a couple of this particular model. I take it you missed the 1954 New York Auto Show? :p Andreas, nice try - you were getting there.

Lucky you, Stuart. Those Motoramas must have been really some experience - a peek into the future, so to speak. Those days are surely gone forever. As an aside, I did get to see the gas turbine GM Firebird III at the '62 Seattle World's Fair. Now the future seems to be battery power. How exciting.

Stuart, don´t worry, only two cars made of this model. As mentioned it was far too expensive and Porsche was on it´s way to conquer the small sports car niche in the US.

The next car I´m asking for will be a volume model, BUT I want to know the exact individual car, so don´t shoot out your answer too quick, let´s take it "step by step".
