J_Thompson Posted September 18, 2011 Share #2241 Posted September 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Gerd, I'm thinking that it's a 156, but since we have not seen a new Alfa in North America since 1995 (8C excepted), it's just a wild guess. Advertisement Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Hi J_Thompson, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gmo Posted September 18, 2011 Share #2242 Posted September 18, 2011 John, It is an Alfa 156 - the World Touring Car Championship version of 2004 at Francorchamps. It's Gabriele Tarquini's car on which they switched the engine after the race before the car went on the trailer. I also join a picture of Giovanardi's car who had to retire from the race after a collision and his car was damaged. Welcome, dear visitor! J_Thompson Posted September 19, 2011 Share #2250 Posted September 19, 2011 Not a Lusso, 212 Inter, Barchetta or AC Ace although the last three guesses are closer to this vehicle's time period.
Rona!d Posted September 19, 2011 Share #2251 Posted September 19, 2011 I´m not into Ferraris, but this could well be a 166.
Rona!d Posted September 19, 2011 Share #2252 Posted September 19, 2011 I can also be terribly wrong
J_Thompson Posted September 19, 2011 Share #2253 Posted September 19, 2011 It's not a Ferrari 166 nor a V12. This particular car was produced about five years after the 166.

kokoshawnuff Posted September 19, 2011 Share #2256 Posted September 19, 2011 Ferrari 208 (Siata i think it was called)
J_Thompson Posted September 19, 2011 Share #2257 Posted September 19, 2011 Correct, it's a 1953 Siata 208 but definitely not a Ferrari, athoough some at the time did refer to it as a "Baby Ferrari" due to its lovely, sporting design. Has a two liter Fiat V8 engine with a Bertone body. Actor Steve McQueen used to own one, while another won the 1960 SCCA F Production National Championship. Your turn, kokoshawnuff. Rona!d Posted September 19, 2011 Share #2258 Posted September 19, 2011 Indeed, a "S.I.A.T.A.". Wonderful car, good engine! Too bad it all ended with cars like the funny tiny S.I.A.T.A. Spring (Fiat 850).

J_Thompson Posted September 19, 2011 Share #2260 Posted September 19, 2011 Ronald, I have to agree with you. What a terrible way for a company with a proud racing background to meet its end - with car like the Siata Spring. I think the Bertone-designed Fiat 850 Spider was much better looking, anyway! I wonder if any Springs survive?
