luigi bertolotti Posted March 2, 2011 Share #761 Posted March 2, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Happy to have caught the Ferrari look... ... but there have been several 250s... and, btw, I confess to have no more pictures of cars in my archives... so I'll give up to someother... my last guess is that it could be a California.... Advertisement Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Hi luigi bertolotti, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Nicoleica Posted March 2, 2011 Share #762 Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) My only thought is, judging by the size of the front drums, it's not a car that can be expected to be able to stop very quickly. (Or at least, not very often.) So my guess would be a 250 GTO Edited March 2, 2011 by Nicoleica wrong engine.
stuny Posted March 2, 2011 Share #763 Posted March 2, 2011 Nicole - As with Luigi, you have the right marque and engine cylinder displacement (12 x 250 cc = 3 liters), but wrong model.
LuxBob Posted March 3, 2011 Share #764 Posted March 3, 2011 I had been thinking GTO but those shiny wheels just did not fit the image so how about 250 GTE? A more sedate version if one could use sedate in these circumstances.

stuny Posted March 3, 2011 Share #766 Posted March 3, 2011 Luigi - Not the GTE, which, by the way, was a far better car than most realize.
Nicoleica Posted March 3, 2011 Share #767 Posted March 3, 2011 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't suppose it could be the fabled 250 Testa Rossa could it? If only you'd supplied a colour picture of the hub spinner...... If not that, then my only other thought could the LM. stuny Posted March 3, 2011 Share #768 Posted March 3, 2011 Two more good guesses, but not the one. Perhaps a hint: Ferrari resurrected the name of this.
Nicoleica Posted March 3, 2011 Share #769 Posted March 3, 2011 I'm running out of ideas here now. (And I'm not a Ferrari expert either.) But, one last try... I don't suppose it could be an early Series 1 Mondial could it? The wheel doesn't look quite right but after all these years, anything is possible. stuny Posted March 3, 2011 Share #770 Posted March 3, 2011 Nicole - No, not a Mondial. I'll bet Luigi will get it if somebody else doesn't ring in before him.

stuny Posted March 3, 2011 Share #772 Posted March 3, 2011 Ronald - I should have known you'd get it, and I like your way of identifying it. The wheel above is on a silver 1958 California raodster, but at the moment I can't find a picture of it. Instead, here's another '58 in the same locxation, 18 months earlier. Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted March 4, 2011 Share #776 Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) Luigi - I'm sorry - I missed that. On another note I did find the photo of the car of which I shot the Borrani wheel. In this case it's actually a 1959 in blue. One of the gents in the background is a colleague who accompanied me to the event - the grand re-opening of The Ferrari Store last June. kkochheiser Posted March 7, 2011 Share #779 Posted March 7, 2011 Arnold Bristol Bolide? Bertone did similar bodies for others though, an Aston Martin and even MG IIRC. Stu, you can keep showing pictures of Ferrari Californias as often as you like! Kent
stuny Posted March 7, 2011 Share #780 Posted March 7, 2011 Ronald - I believe Kent is correct, probably making it from the mid '50s. Kent - I know I have other shots of the first one, but I have to find them.
